Jesus and the Holy Spirit
The Apostles' Creed echoes the statements in the Gospels of Luke and Matthew, stating that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
The virgin birth of Jesus is the Christian doctrine that Jesus was conceived by his mother, Mary, through the power of the Holy Spirit and without sexual intercourse.
9Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 10In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
According to the Reformed churches being born again refers to "the inward working of the Spirit which induces the sinner to respond to the effectual call".
I thank God for this blessing in your life. But receiving the Holy Spirit only comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Having said that, many people do believe that receiving the Holy Spirit is related to being born into a Christian family or to being baptized.
Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, `You must be born again.
Brought from Death to Life. Jesus was saying that every person without the outpoured Spirit from above is spiritually dead like the dry bones and cannot even see the Kingdom of God.
To be born again is to be quickened by the Spirit and receive a change of heart (see Moses 6:65–66; Mosiah 5:2, 5–7). Our rebirth begins at baptism and is completed when we receive the companionship of the Holy Ghost and are cleansed from sin (see 3 Nephi 12:1–2; Alma 36:24; Mormon 7:10).
The Bible makes it clear that the Holy Spirit does not indwell the unbeliever, for the Spirit comes only to those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord. Romans 8:9 says, "You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the spirit of God dwells in you."
Rūh al-Qudus (the Holy Spirit), al-Rūh al-Amin (the Trustworthy Spirit) are generally understood as references to the archangel Gabriel.
Catholics do not pray to Mary as if she were God. Prayer to Mary is memory of the great mysteries of our faith (Incarnation, Redemption through Christ in the rosary), praise to God for the wonderful things he has done in and through one of his creatures (Hail Mary) and intercession (second half of the Hail Mary).
Then shall he immerse him or her in the water, and come forth again out of the water” (D&C 20:73–74). Baptism by immersion symbolizes the burial of the sinner and the spiritual rebirth of the person to live in “newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
Prior Israelite theology held that the Spirit is merely the divine presence of God himself, whereas orthodox Christian theology holds that the Holy Spirit is a distinct person of God the Father himself.
You can read about this dramatic, unique event in the second chapter of the book of Acts. Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God Himself as He works today in the world and in the hearts of God's people. In other words, the Holy Spirit is God's presence with us today.
We learn about the first Spirit-filled man in the Bible in Exodus 35:31 - Bezalel who GOD filled with HIS SPIRIT (ruwach), understanding, wisdom and workmanship to work with his hands for God.
The path to receiving the Holy Ghost is to exercise faith in Christ unto repentance. We can become clean through qualifying for the effects of the Savior's Atonement. The covenants offered in baptism by authorized servants of God bring that cleansing.
Given once for all, Baptism cannot be repeated.
While Jesus told Nicodemus, “Amen, Amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit” (John 3:5), he did not set baptism as a hindrance to salvation but just the opposite. We so often judge things by human standards, but God is not restrained by our standards.
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. for everyone born of God overcomes the world.
Walking by the Spirit means looking to Jesus for our direction. It is a daily journey of asking ourselves, “What does the Lord want me to do today? What will honor and please him?” It involves examining our lives and if we recognize the works of the flesh within us, we repent and ask for the Spirit's help.
Romans 6:10-11. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Jesus said, “No one can enter the Kingdom of God (God's family) unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but spirit gives birth to Spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again” (John 3:5-7).
To be born again implies that one recognises that he is a sinner and needs forgiveness. He is then washed in the blood of the Lamb and more importantly accepts Jesus as his Lord and personal Saviour.
