(Marcus Johnson) is a fictional comic book character appearing in books published by Marvel Comics. He is a son and successor of former U.S. Army hero/super-spy and the intelligence agency S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.
The most prominent hails from Earth-1610, also known as the Ultimate Marvel Universe. As explained in ULTIMATE X-MEN (2001) #11, Ultimate Fury was transporting Weapon X through Kuwait when their convoy was ambushed. He lost his left eye in the explosion but was ultimately saved by the man who would become Wolverine.
Fury then wields him as a weapon. Unfortunately for Fury, Goose does not like being treated like a cat. When Fury tries to cuddle him again at the end of the movie, Goose scratches his eye.
Toxicity: In the Earth-199999 reality, a scratch from a Flerken causes severe tissue damage to humanoids, as Nick Fury found out when a claw swipe from Goose to his left eye resulted in scarring and permanent loss of function.
Battle Scars. In 2012, the six-part series Battle Scars introduces Nick Fury's secret son, Sgt. Marcus Johnson who is an African American and ends up losing one eye in the series. The character has been described as looking like Samuel L.

Earlier in the film, Goose swallows the Tesseract, apparently to keep it safe from the alien Kree. Him barfing it up on Fury's desk is mostly a gross-out visual gag meant to evoke a cat vomiting up a hairball.
It was revealed in Captain Marvel that Fury lost his eye when Goose scratched him. Despite appearances, Goose is no ordinary cat but a Flerken, a fierce alien creature that resembles an Earth cat.
Their only major weakness is that all of their special powers originate in their mouth-area. So all you have to do to disable a flerken is muzzle it. Like the movie version, the first flerken encountered — named “Chewie” instead of “Goose” — was mistaken for an ordinary cat for years.
