Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.
For Jesus, they are the poor, the meek, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, those who mourn, and those who hunger for righteousness.
Matthew 5:3–12
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
God does not only bless men, but He also blesses women, Numbers 23:20, Psalm 109:28, Isaiah 61:9.
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world” said Jesus in John 17:16.

“I Will Bless You, You Will Bless Others”
In the opening verse of Genesis 12 the Lord tells Abraham, “Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you.” Abraham went, and God blessed.
Matthew 5:5-12 lists those who are blessed, which includes the meek, the righteous, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and the persecuted.

Matthew 5:7 says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” In other words, in the age to come when we meet God face to face, the people who will receive mercy from him are people who have been merciful.
