Dec. 28, 1997: Ron Weasley destroys Salazar Slytherin's locket deep in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, by stabbing it with Godric Gryffindor's sword.
Regulus drank the potion himself, stole the locket, and replaced it with the false one signed “R.A.B.” that Harry found. He ordered Kreacher to return home, never to reveal to Regulus's family what had happened to him, and to destroy the locket, after which Kreacher saw Regulus dragged beneath the lake and killed.
It was taken from the cave, however, by a defected Death Eater named Regulus Black with the attempt of having his house-elf, Kreacher, destroy it, but the elf was unable to destroy the locket. It was stolen by Mundungus Fletcher from 12 Grimmauld Place, the home of the House of Black.
Following a daring infiltration mission at the Ministry of Magic during Mary Cattermole's trial, Harry – along with Ron (disguised as Mary's husband, Reginald) and Hermione – retrieved the locket. It was finally destroyed by Ron Weasley, using Godric Gryffindor's sword.
Harry Potter and Dumbledore recovered this locket from a seaside cave at great cost, weakening Dumbledore hours before his murder, only to discover that it was a fake.
Horcruxes can only be destroyed in specific circumstances that allow it's complete and utter destruction. In the movies, the Horcruxes are destroyed in these ways: The killing curse — “Avada Kedavra.” Fiendfyre — a curse that creates powerful and magical flames.
Unknown date, 1946: Tom Riddle murders Hepzibah Smith, sending a piece of his soul into Helga Hufflepuff's cup. It becomes the third Horcrux. (Riddle also steals the Slytherin locket.)
Voldemort intentionally made six Horcruxes, but when he used Avada Kedavra on Harry, he unintentionally created a seventh Horcrux. Instead of dying, Lily's love for Harry created a counter 'curse' known as Sacrificial Protection and saved Harry.
Behind the scenes. When Harry and Hermione are on the first floor of Bathilda's house, Nagini (inside the corpse of Bathilda) tells Harry to "Come!" from the next room in Parseltongue. In reaction, Hermione jumps and clutches Harry's arm, and the two of them obey the command.
Voldemort, weakened by his long stint as "less than the meanest ghost' 69 insists on making one more Horcrux. And unlike with Harry, Voldemort did say the spell when he killed Bertha Jorkins to make Nagini a Horcrux.
The Bloody Baron: Slytherin house ghost
A hot-tempered sort of fellow, who was responsible for the death of the Grey Lady, aka Helena Ravenclaw. In his living days, he was simply known as The Baron. It was only at the point of his death that the 'bloody' part of his name was added in.
Quirrell is, in effect, turned into a temporary Horcrux by Voldemort. He is greatly depleted by the physical strain of fighting the far stronger, evil soul inside him.
Regulus Black is the brother of Sirius Black. He is also a former Death Eater, although he defied Voldemort and found, and intended to destroy, Salazar Slytherin's locket (a horcrux) and died when dragged into the lake and drowned by Voldemort's inferi.
After becoming a Death Eater, Regulus began to consider abandoning Lord Voldemort, partly because his master mistreated and intended to kill the Black family's loyal house-elf Kreacher whilst setting up the security measures for one of his Horcruxes.
After Hogwarts
Regulus also goes on to marry his girlfriend Vivienne Price and father one daughter Renee Black.
Draco Malfoy's mother Narcissa was cold, cunning and devoted to the Dark Lord. But she was also a mother, which meant she was willing to risk everything to make sure her son was safe. When Harry survived Voldemort's Killing Curse for the second time, Narcissa pretended he was dead so she could get to Draco.
Though Harry encountered many opportunities that deemed Avada Kedavra necessary, it remains as one of the Unforgivable Curses Harry Potter never cast. For one, he viewed the spell as an immoral practice commonly used by users of the Dark Arts.
Her sacrifice gave Harry the power of love, a protection spell sealed with the blood spilled by her death.
In this book, Rowling reveals that Bellatrix is the guardian of Helga Hufflepuff's cup (though she is unaware that it is a Horcrux), which Voldemort has entrusted the Lestranges to keep in their Gringotts vault.
Harry knows from his conversations with Dumbledore that if a Horcrux is in the vault, it must either be the Hufflepuff cup or else an unknown object, so they have no choice but to look for the cup.
Nagini was Lord Voldemort's final Horcrux
In an interview, J.K. Rowling revealed that it was the murder of Bertha Jorkins that made Nagini a Horcrux. After Voldemort discovered his Horcruxes were in danger, Nagini was magically protected, described as being encased in a 'starry, translucent sphere'.
Gaunt's ring
The ring was hidden in the remains of the Gaunt family shack, and the defensive spells placed around it had to be overcome by a very powerful wizard. After retrieving the ring Albus Dumbledore himself fell victim to a curse that, even when contained, would likely have killed him within the year.
He finds out for sure immediately after Nagini's attack on Arthur Weasley. This night is significant in many ways. While Harry sleeps, he enters Nagini's mind.
James Potter inherited the Cloak of Invisibility from his father Fleamont Potter. Fleamont was a descendant of Hardwin Potter who married Iolanthe Peverell, the only daughter of one of the descendants of Ignotus Peverell, the original owner of the Cloak of Invisibility.
