Surah Al-Fatihah is recommended as a form of ruqyah (healing through Qur'an). It is said that a companion of the Prophet (PBUH) recited it over a scorpion bite which Allah then cured. The Prophet (PBUH) smiled and asked him: “How did you know that Surah Al-Fatihah is ruqyah?” [Hadith | Sahih al-Bukhari].
Al-Fatiha is also known by several other names, such as Al-Hamd (The Praise), As-Salah (The Prayer), Umm al-Kitab (Mother of the Book), Umm al-Quran (Mother of the Quran), Sab'a min al-Mathani (Seven Repeated Ones, from Quran 15:87), and Ash-Shifa' (The Cure).

About this Surah:
Among other names, Surah fatiha is called al-Shifa meaning “the cure” for it's perceived healing of the body and soul. There is hadith in Bukhari which corroborates this notion.
Allah's name Ash-Shaafee— The One who cures, the Healer— is not mentioned in the Quran, but occurs in a narration of the Prophet salallahu 'alayhi wa sallam. Ash-Shaafee is the only one who can cure and heal any disease or ailment.
In a narration from the Prophet Muhammad pbuh it is stated that the one who reads Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays will find his entire week enlightened until the next Friday (al-Jaami).
