Really scary but not gory and not to scary. This was the first horror movie that I ever saw and I loved every second of it. The suspense and the jump scares and great.
Although there is no graphic violence or gore that is found in R rated films and language,sexual content is pretty mild or non existent. Overall the film is appropriate for ages 12 and up and contains good messages about family and survival.
