The Bible teaches that no one can save themselves through their own works, emphasizing salvation as a free gift from God received through faith in Jesus Christ, with key verses including Ephesians 2:8-9, stating salvation is by grace, not works, to prevent boasting, and Acts 4:12, declaring no other name under heaven gives salvation. Other relevant passages are Romans 6:23 (wages of sin is death, gift of God is eternal life) and Psalm 146:3 (don't trust in humans to save).
Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV reads, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” We cannot save ourselves. If we could, we would have no need of a savior. We cannot boast of our salvation.
Joshua 24:14–15 Reminds Us to Serve God
And then for us to pray that God would save us from idols in our country. We must decide if we will serve God or ourselves. Let's do that. God, we start this prayer by saying you alone are God.
Proverbs 18:22 means finding a good wife is a great blessing and a sign of God's favor, portraying marriage as a divine gift and a partnership where a godly woman serves as a wise helper, bringing comfort, purpose, and spiritual growth, not just a casual companion. It emphasizes that this isn't a guarantee for any marriage but highlights the value of a covenant partner, reflecting God's design for life and support.
Romans 14:23 means that acting against your own conscience, even in matters not explicitly forbidden by the Bible (like certain foods), is sin because it demonstrates a lack of faith and trust in God's guidance, showing you're violating your convictions rather than living by conviction. If you're unsure if something is right, and you do it anyway, you are acting out of doubt, not faith, and are therefore condemned (guilty of sin) in that action, even if the act itself might be permissible for someone else.
It means that when God speaks into my heart it needs to be open and ready to receive the gifts God is offering me. Your heart is the source of life. And in order to receive the gifts God has for you it must be open. It can't be barricaded and kept away from the Lord.

Leviticus 18:22 has traditionally been interpreted as prohibiting homosexual acts, but its meaning is debated, with some scholars suggesting it applies only to specific contexts like adultery, rape, or incest and others arguing it evolved over time.
While it's reasonable to assume that Jesus and his fellow Jews in first-century Palestine would have disapproved of gay sex, there is no record of his ever having mentioned homosexuality, let alone expressed particular revulsion about it. . . .
Earthly parents may be able to offer enormous wealth to their children. But when someone is blessed with a believing, discerning spouse, that is truly a gift from God. While the principle here applies to husbands and wives, in Solomon's era, men especially valued marrying a "prudent" wife.
The point of the parable is that we are to use whatever we have been given for God's purposes. The severe consequences to the unproductive servant, far beyond anything triggered by mere business mediocrity, tell us that we are to invest our lives, not waste them.
Application in Modern Context
In our fast-paced and often chaotic world, Joshua 24:14-15 invites us to pause and reflect on our own spiritual journey. It prompts us to evaluate our priorities and recommit ourselves to serving God with sincerity and passion.
Joshua 17 reveals the fulfillment of the promise that God made to them through Moses in Numbers 27. Before the Israelites were anywhere close to entering the Promised Land, these women approached Moses. They fully believed that God would bring them into the Promised Land. They had faith that God would be faithful.
When you believe in Jesus, you can rest in the assurance that your salvation is secure. God doesn't break His promises, and He doesn't change His mind. Once you are saved, you are always saved. Eternal life isn't something you can earn, so it's also not something you can lose either.
“We are each free to believe what we want and it's my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God.
Matthew 22:37 means Jesus calls for a total, all-encompassing love for God, engaging every part of a person—their heart (emotions, will), soul (being, life), and mind (intellect, thoughts)—making God the supreme priority and the foundation for all actions, transforming one's entire life into a relationship of worship and obedience. This isn't just feeling; it's a deliberate choice to align one's whole self with God's will, leading to a deeper, more meaningful life.
St. Paul, too, emerges as an asexual being in Acts of the Apostles and in his epistolary writings to the communities of Christ around the Greco-Roman world.

Pride is also considered a foundational, serious sin across many faiths, linked to the downfall of figures like Satan.
