Daemon only knows how to get his way through violence, and since Rhaenyra has the power to ascend the Iron Throne and not himself, he chokes her out of envy, desperation, and anger that she's impeding his plans for revenge.
So Rhaenyra bringing up a prophecy as the reason why she doesn't want to go to war, especially as we established that Daemon does not believe in them makes him so furious that he lashes out and chokes her.
Daemon causes further trouble in the realm by crowning Rhaenyra himself. She is declared the Queen of Dragonstone, while her younger brother Aegon II is named King in King's Landing. These parallel crownings inadvertently kick off the Dance of the Dragons civil war when both sides refuse to give way.
While this is a revelation in and of itself, this sequence also highlights the truth of Daemon and Rhaenyra - he is an abuser and she is his victim, albeit perhaps one who does not see herself as a victim.
In one of the scenes, Daemon is shown choking his wife, also the protagonist, Rhaenyra. Talking about the scene, Emma D'Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, attributed Daemon's violence to grief over Viserys' death. Emma D'Arcy stated that they knew that the scene would mark a significant shift in their relationship.
In Fire & Blood, the book House of the Dragon is based on, Daemon and Rhaenyra go on to have two boys: Aegon and Viserys. Yup, another Aegon and another Viserys. They also have a daughter, Visenya, but she is sadly a stillborn baby.

Her next child whom she's now pregnant with, however, will be a different story. In House of the Dragon episode 8, Rhaenyra Targaryen is pregnant with her daughter Visenya. Despite Rhaenyra and Daemon's excitement over having another child, their daughter will tragically never take a breath of air.

The official record is that he died in the Battle Above the God's Eye along with his dragon Caraxes. BUT, his body was never found and you know what that means in fiction. That he lived beyond the battle. Songs say he joined his bedmate Nettles and lived in secret.
After berating Daemon for “abandoning” her to marry the now-deceased Laena Velaryon, Rhaenyra makes it clear that she has feelings for her uncle and wishes to strengthen her position in Westeros by marrying him. The pair then have sex.
Daemon's age in the show is not explicitly revealed, but neither are we led to believe that his age is significantly different from what it is in George R. R. Martin's books. So, let's agree that he is (give or take) 16 years older than Rhaenyra. This places him in his early 30s when we first see him meet his niece.

Later, in episode seven, Daemon tells Rhaenyra that he and Laena were "happy enough" in their marriage. In that regard, there was far more love between Daemon and Laena than there ever was between him and Rhea, even if it wasn't entirely romantic.
He doesn't only ignore Laena on the issue, though, he actively ignores his daughter Rhaena (Eva Ossei-Gerning) as well, perhaps because she doesn't own a dragon like her sister Baela (Shani Smethhurst) or her parents.
Then Daemon kissed her. And she was very much interested in that. The uncle and niece got steamy fast. Clothes flew off and Rhaenyra gave back to Daemon as good as she got.
While we conjectured that something inside forced Daemon to stop before he took Rhaenyra's virginity, a recent HBO-approved “Inside the Episode” installment revealed that something was literally impotence. He literally couldn't get it up.
