Hannah promised God that if He gave her a son, she would dedicate him to the Lord for his entire life, meaning he would serve in the tabernacle and never have his hair cut (a Nazirite vow from birth). She kept this promise by giving her son, Samuel, to the priest Eli to serve God at the temple after he was weaned, fulfilling her solemn vow.
Then she made a promise. She said: “Oh, God Almighty, if you will only see my misery and remember me by giving me a son, then I will give my son to serve you, God, for all the days of his life.”
Making a vow, she pleaded, 'LORD of Hosts, if You will take notice of Your servant's affliction, remember and not forget me, and give Your servant a son, I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and his hair will never be cut.
In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah cried out to God and promised that if only He would grant her a boy, she would “give him to the Lord all the days of his life” (1 Samuel 1:11). After God answered her prayer by giving her a son she named Samuel, Hannah kept her promise.
By remembering what God had done for her, she was also able to keep her promise in the long term. She said to Eli, “For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” She wouldn't be coming back a year or two later saying, “I changed my mind.”
Hannah was a godly woman who could not have children until she prayed and promised God that if He would give her a son, she would give him back to God. And God answered her prayer, and Hannah kept her promise.
The biblical figure killed by God for not impregnating his brother's wife (Tamar) was Onan, as described in Genesis 38 in the Old Testament. Onan refused to provide offspring for his deceased brother, Er, by spilling his semen on the ground (a practice known as coitus interruptus), which God found wicked and punished with death, giving rise to the term "onanism".
Hannah demonstrates her faith through obedience, even when it means an extreme personal sacrifice. She has longed for this child, and she loves him as only a mother can love a child. But her love for God is greater and she shows it by letting go of Samuel.

And then for us to pray that God would save us from idols in our country. We must decide if we will serve God or ourselves. Let's do that. God, we start this prayer by saying you alone are God.
Guard their hearts and their minds, Lord, so that they won't listen to voices telling them to take shortcuts or even to give up hope. I place my struggling child in your hands. They are yours. I won't add a day to my life worrying about them.
Hannah promised to surrender her son to God for the duration of Samuel's life. This was her only son, her baby, the one she had prayed for and wept for. She promised to give him to God when he was still a little child, barely after she finished nursing him.
In the Bible, the number 30 can symbolize dedication to a particular task or calling. In Old Testament, priests were dedicated to serve at 30, in part because it was the age when a person reached both physical and mental maturity and could therefore handle major responsibilities.
Jesus speaks of forgiveness beyond what anyone had ever considered before: seventy times seven! Many commentaries understand this to mean that Jesus was telling Peter that he should forgive his brother a limitless number of times.
The Bible does not specify how long Hannah was barren, a period that, according to the. midrash, extended for nineteen years. Why was this righteous woman forced to suffer so many years of childlessness?
In I Samuel 3:1 we read,” In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.” God needed a prophet to communicate His heart to the Israelites. Hannah longed to give birth to a son.
God knew every tear Hannah was going to cry—every desperate prayer she would utter, and every demeaning insult she would hear. And he causes her barrenness anyway–for his larger purpose that would ultimately bring great blessing to both Hannah and the nation of Israel.
The story of Achan gives us a powerful picture of how one man's sin can affect everyone around him. It shows us the terrible punishment for sin (death) and how God's enemies are overcome, as well as the high cost of being tainted by sin. And it points forward to the glorious hope of seeing sin dealt with on the cross.
Application in Modern Context
In our fast-paced and often chaotic world, Joshua 24:14-15 invites us to pause and reflect on our own spiritual journey. It prompts us to evaluate our priorities and recommit ourselves to serving God with sincerity and passion.
The answer: FAITH. The problem of no fruit is the problem of no faith. Jesus says “if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done” (Matt. 21:21).
Meaning:Favor; Grace. Hannah is a girl's name of Hebrew origin. It is a variation of Channah, meaning "favor" or "grace." In the Hebrew Bible, Hannah was one of Elkanah's wives and the mother of Samuel.
According to Michelle Osherow, Hannah represents the character of the earnest petitioner and grateful celebrant of divine glory. Hannah was an important figure for early English Protestantism, which emphasized the importance of private prayer. The Jerusalem Talmud took Hannah as an exemplar of prayer.
Hannah's prayer to God was for one son who would be fit to serve in the tabernacle. If God would give her that son, she would give him back to God. Hannah's actions proved that she wanted a child not for her own pleasure, but because she wanted to dedicate him to the Lord.
John was banished by the Roman authorities to the Greek island of Patmos, where, according to tradition, he wrote the Book of Revelation. According to Tertullian (in The Prescription of Heretics) John was banished (presumably to Patmos) after being plunged into boiling oil in Rome and suffering nothing from it.
According to midrashic literature, Adam's first wife was not Eve but a woman named Lilith, who was created in the first Genesis account. Only when Lilith rebelled and abandoned Adam did God create Eve, in the second account, as a replacement.
