Patients often see the best results with an erbium:YAG laser. This type of laser removes superficial layers of skin while leaving deeper layers intact. The healthy remaining skin cells trigger a rapid healing process.

Surgical grade CO2 or Erbium YAG laser needs to be used since aesthetic grade lasers involve high heating but low power. This is not ideal for sufficient skin contraction. It is best to work with a surgeon that makes use of advanced CO2 or Erbium YAG laser.

The Madonna Lift Procedure
The Madonna lift is a simple, 20-minute procedure. You wear special protective eye shields during the procedure, and we use our CO2 laser to treat the areas directly adjacent to the eye. You will feel a slight sting, but it is very minimal.
It's almost like a skin excision, and the eyelid itself is not particularly painful. It may swell and bruise a lot, but it is not very painful. Many of my patients don't even take any narcotics after surgery. They only take acetaminophen or Tylenol.
You should be in good health and a non-smoker. The surgery is worth it for people who want to look younger and better rested in and around the eyes. The results are subtle but dramatic, and recovery is minor with little pain reported.
Because the laser is used to make incisions and remove tissue, the procedure is less invasive than traditional blepharoplasty, which means that there is less bleeding, swelling, and bruising. The use of the laser also results in more precise incisions, which can lead to a more natural-looking result.
Even if you don't see immediate improvement, your initial results will continue to improve throughout the year. On average, most patients get to enjoy silky-smooth skin that lasts for anywhere between three and five years after undergoing laser therapy.

Tightening with Fraxel RePair Laser
Fraxel CO2 RePair laser ablates tissue – meaning that tiny columns of skin are vaporized. This reduces the volume of skin in one procedure. The vaporization and the heat response offer a double duty effect by shrinking total skin area and by spurring new tighter collagen.
Either laser can be used to treat acne scars, wrinkles, sun damage, or texture. But Fractional CO2 is our first choice for sun damage, wrinkles, and texture while the Fraxel laser is our first choice for acne scars. These choices are purely based on which laser is more effective for each condition.
An CO2 laser treatment may not be safe for those with certain health problems. An CO2 laser treatment is not recommended for patients who are currently taking Accutane. Those with a history of difficulty healing or scarring are not candidates, as well as those with bleeding disorders.
The cost to have a treatment done around the eyes is around $1900.00. Most patients have about 4 full days of down-time. On the fifth day, you should be able to put on make-up and go out into public, but you may still have bruising and redness. A small subset of patients will need more down-time.
After CO2 laser treatment, it usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks for your skin to heal. Your skin will be very sensitive during this time. Follow the guidelines below to help your skin heal and prevent infection.
