Luke eventually made Ben one of his first new Jedi apprentices. But Snoke had already turned the boy's heart. Following a confrontation with his uncle, Ben destroyed Luke's temple, departing with several of his students and killing the others. He then took the name Kylo Ren and became Snoke's apprentice.
In The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren tells Rey that he was the one who destroyed the temple, and the flashbacks show evidence that this was the case. An angry Ben Solo pulls out his lightsaber after seeing Luke with his green saber above him.
Not only did Ben end up not becoming a true Jedi, but he also betrayed Luke to join the First Order, destroying the Jedi Temple and the remaining apprentices along with it on his way to transforming into Kylo Ren.
While villains such as Vader and Kylo have used mind probing to undermine their enemies, Luke himself strayed into the dark side when he betrayed his nephew in The Last Jedi's flashback.
The first Dark Jedi was believed to be Xendor, who was the first member of the Jedi Order to fall. Other forerunners included Ajunta Pall and others who, after the Hundred-Year Darkness, were exiled from Galactic Republic space and became the ancient progenitors of the Sith Lords.
After Luke Skywalker lost his hand to Darth Vader in their first lightsaber duel, Luke suffered a secret weakness in the force in Star Wars #19. After his first lightsaber duel with his father, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker suffered an injury that weakened his force strength forever.
The series explored the confrontation between Luke and Ben Solo (Kylo Ren) in greater depth, depicting Ben destroying the temple with a powerful lightning storm. The storm killed Luke's Padawans, leaving three survivors: Hennix, Tai, and Voe.

Many characters throughout the saga films and non-movie material from both canon and Legends knew that Luke Skywalker was the son of the Jedi Knight and Clone Wars veteran Anakin Skywalker. A small number of individuals in the franchise knew that the lesser Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, was once Anakin as well.

Though Rey Force-heals him, saving his life physically, this blow, coupled with the memory of his mother and father, destroys the man known as “Kylo Ren” forever.
Apart from his mother, Ben Solo became the first apprentice of his uncle Luke Skywalker, and proved to be the most gifted student of the Jedi Master. In 15 ABY, prior to his tenth birthday, Solo decided he would begin his Jedi training and joined Skywalker's initiative to restore the Jedi Order.
Undoubtedly, his greatest love was with a character named Mara Jade. Mara is a strong character as a part of the expanded universe of the Star Wars Legends series of novels. Their love is so strong that Luke winds up marrying her, and she bears a son that they name Ben (not Ben Solo).
He then orders Ren to bring Rey (Daisy Ridley) to him after she refuses to disclose the map to Luke. After Ren is defeated in a lightsaber duel with Rey, Snoke orders Hux to bring Ren to him to complete his training.
Ahsoka Tano, a Togruta female, was the Padawan learner to Anakin Skywalker and a hero of the Clone Wars.
Anakin, who has since become the Sith Lord Darth Vader, is unaware of his children's birth. The twins soon became part of the Rebel Alliance following the deaths of their adoptive families at the hands of the Empire.
Darth Vader didn't learn he had a daughter until Return of the Jedi, when he stood before Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor's power probed Luke's mind, attempting to goad him to fall to the dark side, and he discovered Leia's existence.

Thousands of Jedi throughout the galaxy were killed, including Ki-Adi-Mundi on Mygeeto, Aayla Secura on Felucia, Plo Koon in the skies of Cato Neimoidia, Stass Allie on Saleucami, Depa Billaba on Kaller, Jaro Tapal in the Bracca system, and even Jedi younglings.
Aftermath. Although Order 66 greatly depleted the Jedi Order's ranks, with an estimated less than 100 Jedi surviving it, it was only the beginning of the Great Jedi Purge, which stretched on for years and claimed the lives of many of the survivors of the initial onslaught.
Luminara Unduli
Though she managed to survive Order 66, she was captured, tortured, and killed soon after by the Grand Inquisitor. An image of her was used to lure Jedi to their deaths in the events of Star Wars Rebels.
Qui-Gon Jinn was one of the most powerful Jedi Masters, but he was often subversive, and his ideas and methods were controversial among the Jedi elite.
Coleman Trebor. He was the Jedi that looked more or less like a bipedal dinosaur with opposable thumbs. Coleman Trebor is by far the weakest Jedi to ever exist. He made his movie appearance in Attack Of The Clones.
The Jedi however also have three outliers in that of Luke, Leia, and Cade Skywalker (23000/23000/21000 midi-chlorians respectively) all of which were children/descendants of Anakin Skywalker (the chosen one) and so genetically predisposed to having abnormally-high midi-chlorian counts for Jedi.
