The zodiac is a belt of space around Earth. It occupies the path that the Sun appears to take around Earth in the course of a year (although it is actually Earth that is moving around the Sun). Twelve well-known groups of stars, called constellations, lie in the zodiac.
In astrology, a sign of the zodiac refers to one of 12 specific constellations of the zodiac that the sun passes through. A person's particular sign of the zodiac is the one that the sun was in when they were born. It is a belief in astrology that a person's personality can be predicted using their sign of the zodiac.

The signs have been used for a very long time as a way of dating years in a 12-year cycle of the Chinese calendar. The importance of the zodiac to the Chinese culture is that the animal signs have been used in stories and folklore. These developed the different personality traits that were represented with each animal.
The original purpose of astrology, on the other hand, was to inform the individual of the course of his life on the basis of the positions of the planets and of the zodiacal signs (the 12 astrological constellations) at the moment of his birth or conception.
A study done in the U.K. showed that May is the luckiest month to be born, and October is the unluckiest. It could have something to do with that optimism, since positive attitudes have been associated with greater resilience.

The murders associated with the Zodiac killer took place between 1968 and 1969 in Northern California's Bay Area. By the late 1970s the Zodiac had seemingly disappeared, no longer sending taunting letters to newspapers or threatening further crimes, though interest in the case did not fade.
The Case Breakers say they have identified the Zodiac Killer as Gary Francis Poste, who passed away in 2018. According to Fox News, the team's years of digging uncovered new forensic evidence and photos from Poste's darkroom.
The zodiac system was developed in Babylonia, some 2,500 years ago, during the "Age of Aries".
