To summarize, depression, suicide, eating disorders, obesity (and its effects), early sexual activity, addiction-formation, and difficulty building and holding on to loving relationships are all side-effects of an absent father.
Children's diminished self-concept, and compromised physical and emotional security (children consistently report feeling abandoned when their fathers are not involved in their lives, struggling with their emotions and episodic bouts of self-loathing)
Father absence occurs when parents separate and the father no longer lives with his children. Parental separation has been proven to affect a child's development and behavior.
However, the trauma begins if a dad leaves and the individual feels not only a deep sense of loss, but also an overwhelming sense of abandonment.
Behavioral problems: Fatherless children have more difficulties with social adjustment, and are more likely to report problems with friendships, and manifest behavior problems; many develop a swaggering, intimidating persona in an attempt to disguise their underlying fears, resentments, anxieties, and unhappiness.
Most research focuses on two major causes for the growth in fatherlessness since the early 1960's: divorce and out-of-wedlock births.
Studies have shown that when fathers are affectionate and supportive, it greatly affects a child's cognitive and social development. It also instills an overall sense of well-being and self confidence.
The effects of broken families have been staggering. Children from fatherless homes fare far worse in overall well-being and mental and behavioral health. Psalm 68:5 tells us, “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.” His aim is to show orphans mercy, care, and protection, and because these waiting children are essential to him, they should be essential to us as his Church.
It can describe people (most often women) who project subconscious impulses toward the male partners in their life. The impulses can be negative or positive, and they're caused by an insufficient paternal relationship. A negative impulse towards a significant other could be shown through distrust or fear.
Engage. Keeping present-fathers present, engaged with their children, and strengthening that engagement, can mitigate the effects of fatherlessness. Engaged fathers who reside with their biological children have the best opportunity to role model appropriate male behavior.

Characteristics of Fatherless Daughters:
Often sacrifice their own needs to meet others' needs (so they are appreciated, needed, belong). Desire relationships and connection, but experience vulnerability, and struggle to build and maintain relationships.
Mental health issues, substance abuse or the physical absence of parents or caregivers due to death or divorce can all contribute to abandonment trauma, also known as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) of abandonment.
When women don't grow up affirmed and acknowledged by their fathers, they can suffer from low self-esteem and make bad choices in their lives. They can become needy, clingy, preoccupied with the relationship and always looking for reassurance from their partner.
