Radiesse® for Marionette Lines Like Juvéderm®, Radiesse® is one of our go-to treatments for marionette lines, often most useful in more severe cases. Radiesse® is a dermal filler that works with the body to increase the production of collagen while simultaneously providing a filler effect.
How does the treatment work? Dermal fillers are applied to the marionette lines and the corners of the mouth. This hides the shadow between the 2 areas creating a flatter shape. This smoothens out the marionette lines and reduces the appearance of the jowls.
Hyaluronic acid (HA): This naturally occurring body substance keeps your skin hydrated and full. You make less of this acid as you age, leading to fine lines and thinner, saggy skin. HA injections include Juvederm® and Restylane®. These dermal fillers plump up your jawline, smoothing wrinkles and fine lines.
Bellafill patients have reported results lasting upwards of 7 years or even longer, whereas the results of other fillers vary from 6 months to 3 years. Bellafill is especially good for treating marionette lines, as well as other wrinkles and scars.

Typically 1-2mls at least are required. Some patients will require more than this.
Both Juvederm and Radiesse are effective in treating marionette lines, but Juvederm recommended for shallow marionette lines. Radiesse recommended for more severe marionette lines and wrinkles. Juvederm works by smoothing parentheses lines, and other superficial to deep lines and wrinkles.

It takes up to 4 weeks for the filler to fully integrate into the tissue and some fillers are more cohesive than others. We often advise my patients that they should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated after treatment, as hyaluronic based fillers are water-binding.
Juvéderm for Marionette Lines? To treat the vertical lines between the mouth and chin to reduce the look of sagging, you're likely to need one syringe per side.
Dermal fillers gently plump the skin in targeted areas to reduce the fold itself, but they can also be used to increase volume in the upper face to lift the skin. Botox relaxes the muscles that can pull down the mouth, thus reducing the effect of marionette lines.
In this case, a volume-adding injectable like dermal fillers is often the better choice because it can fill the deep wrinkles and smoothen the skin. Some patients also combine these two treatments especially if the corners of the mouth are turned downwards.
