An orphan in a facility run by the mean Miss Hannigan (Carol Burnett), Annie (Aileen Quinn) believes that her parents left her there by mistake. When a rich man named Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks (Albert Finney) decides to let an orphan live at his home to promote his image, Annie is selected.
Based on the Broadway musical, Annie is the story of an orphan searching for a family. Raised in an orphanage, Annie has reason to believe that her parents are still alive. She runs away from the cruel Miss Hannigan in order to find them. Her recapture by Miss Hannigan coincides with the visit of the secretary of Mr.
She accidentally put her prints on it after Rio killed the graphic designer, Lucy, to ensure secrecy regarding their counterfeiting ring.
In the finale, Annie was taken away in cuffs, seemingly taking the fall for the gun which killed Lucy (Charlyne Yi). But would she remain imprisoned? We find it hard to believe that Beth would allow her sister to rot away in jail but it's definitely a loose end that would have been better off resolved.
Though the protagonists' relationship succeeds on many levels, it does not succeed in the traditional sense—it does not end in marriage. On the other hand, the film does end relatively happily, with only a tinge of sadness. Put simply, the film champions the notion that love fades.
Annie is genuinely selfish, due to having been abandoned at birth and being used as a tool by everyone she has ever known, even by her adoptive father who wanted a better life for himself through her. She has no interest in protecting strangers due to being unattached to most of humanity to an absurdly high degree.

An insider at the show, meanwhile, hinted to the outlet that scheduling and money were an issue for Manny Montana, who co-starred in the series.
They ended up having a sexual encounter which convinced fans there was more to their relationship than just the cat-and-mouse game. Actor Montana revealed Beth and Rio do in fact love each other on a certain level.
