Be not overmuch wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?
Abstract. When mankind had become corrupted in the period preceding the flood, God said: 'My spirit shall not abide in man for ever, for he is flesh; his days shall be a hundred and twenty years' (Gen. 6:3). Ancient interpreters, both Jews and Christians, did not agree about the interpretation of these words.
Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God!
Christians who know and love each other on earth will know and love each other in heaven.
The Bible speaks about death in two ways. There is death the way we normally think about it, the severing of the body and the spirit. Then there is what the Bible calls “the second death.” The second death is simply the judgment of God in which the body and the soul are cast into hell (Revelation 20:14; 21:8).

This difficult time may be complicated by a phenomenon known as the surge before death, or terminal lucidity, which can happen days, hours, or even minutes before a person's passing. Often occurring abruptly, this period of increased energy and alertness may give families false hope that their loved ones will recover.
We all survive death, and either go to be in heaven, or to suffer in hell, while we wait for the resurrection of the body. This brings us to the second meaning: the resurrection of the body, which occurs at the end of time as we know it. This involves the raising of physical bodies from the dead when Christ returns.
As the Apostle Paul wrote, “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully” (1 Corinthians 13:12). However, the Bible certainly does indicate that when we die we enter immediately into God's presence if we belong to Christ.
When Hezekiah pleaded that his life would be prolonged, the Lord said, "I will heal thee: . . . And I will add unto thy days fifteen years. . . ." (2 Kings 20:5-6.) Bishop Vandenberg said: "Thus the Lord granted Hezekiah's request to extend his life.
Living in a way that pleases God, according to Paul, includes loving others and living a quiet life.
After all, they disobeyed God's command to not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. God is the One who decides who does or does not enter heaven. There's no place in the Bible that says they were saved. But there is no place in the Bible that indicates the couple was lost, either.
In Proverbs 9:10,11, the Bible states: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you." If you add wisdom to your life, will God add years to your life?
Aging in the Bible is said to be a sign of experience. The Lord promises His continued love and concern for the elderly. “I will be your God throughout your lifetime -- until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you.
In 2 Kings 23:16-20, Josiah took the bones out of the tomb, burned them on the altar, and “defiled it.” However, nowhere in the Old Testament does the Bible command the deceased cannot be burned, nor are there any judgments attached to those that have been cremated.
God promises to stay by your side from birth until your final days. "I will be your God throughout your lifetime — until your hair is white with age," He says in Isaiah 46:4, adding, "I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you." You are never alone, even when you feel weary or anxious.

Your heart no longer beats, your breath stops and your brain stops functioning. Studies suggest that brain activity may continue several minutes after a person has been declared dead. Still, brain activity isn't the same as consciousness or awareness. It doesn't mean that a person is aware that they've died.
