Certain breeds such as Dobermans, Bull Terriers, and German Shepherds have been shown to have a genetic link to this condition, but like ADHD, these symptoms could also be triggered by a lack of physical activity, anxiety, and frustration from their owner's lack of attention.

Researchers have found that many of these same traits overlap with behavioral descriptions of ADHD. These traits lead to higher levels of spontaneous idea generation, day dreaming, sensation seeking, high energy, exuberant emotions, and impulsivity. Dogs help reduce stress in people with ADHD
Having an affectionate companion, who is not there to judge, but to provide emotional support and company, greatly changes one's mood. Just contact with an animal reduces stress and increases the release of serotonin, helping the individual to have positive feelings.
With a dog, people with ADHD may feel more confident talking to new people and they will approached more because of the dog. Pets for people with ADHD, can make it easier to meet new people, socialize and get outside.
It is an attribute common in people with ADHD. Symptoms of hypersensitivity include being highly sensitive to physical (via sound, sigh, touch, or smell) and or emotional stimuli and the tendency to be easily overwhelmed by too much information.
