Sins against marriage and conjugal chastity The church believes adultery, divorce, remarriage after divorce, marriage without the intent to transmit life, polygamy, incest, child abuse, free union, and trial marriage are sins against the dignity of marriage.

Biblically speaking, spouses don't have the right to simply dissolve an unhappy marriage. God intended that marriage be for a lifetime. Ephesians 5 describes marriage as a metaphor for our relationship with God. He is not capricious in His affections toward us, nor does His love depend on favorable circumstances.

Contempt
John Gottman found out that contempt is the No. 1 predictor of divorce. Contempt is poison for marriages. Behaviors such as disrespecting, cursing, name-calling, and anything else that makes the other person feel bad about themselves reflect contemptuous intentions.
Simply put, a toxic relationship is one in which partners don't support each other. Instead, one person is always trying to undermine the other. There is a sense of competitiveness instead of support. Negative experiences far outnumber the positive ones.
One of the greatest rules of a happy marriage is respect. Even when you're fighting, you have to maintain respect for each other in order for things to work. It's important to keep calm when you have disagreements. It's OK to get angry, but never resort to name calling or spiteful comments.
