When a horse cocks his leg, he rests the leading edge of the hoof on the ground and drops his hip. When combined with a lowered head or ears hanging to the side, this is the sign of a horse who is relaxed and resting. You may see him occasionally shift his weight, uncocking that back leg and cocking the other one.
A happy, relaxed, horse

Why do horses nudge you? Have you ever been nudged by a horse? Horses use body language to communicate with humans (and other horses), and one of the ways they do this is through touch. Nudging is a way for a horse to get your attention, which can signify affection or impatience.
Horses may nod their heads when they are excited or eager, such as when they see their owner coming to feed them or when they are about to go out for a ride. This can be a way for horses to express their enthusiasm and communicate their feelings to their handlers.
A healthy horse is alert and inquisitive, happy to interact with other horses (be sociable) and partakes of the normal herd behaviours such as mutual grooming sessions, sleeping for short spells throughout the day and night and running around occasionally (as a herd).
Horses may stare at you when they want your attention. If you are distracted or out of reach, your horse may stare at you to get you to focus on them. If there's a barrier such as a fence between you and your horse, they may stare at you since they can't reach you to nudge you.
Horses aren't just for humans to show one another affection. Did you know that horses hug too? Just make sure that you're on the horse's good side before hugging them, and remember that if they start licking you or breathing on you it is often because they appreciate your company.
In the wild, as well as in domestic care, horses will show affection to one another by sharing breath with one another. Horses will put their noses together and then share the air. This tendency extends to horses showing love to their owners as well.
If a horse is experiencing stresses, such as too much time in their stall or a poor feeding schedule, they may begin to exhibit stereotypies. Common stereotypes include cribbing, chewing, wall kicking, stall walking, weaving and fence walking.
One of the most obvious signs your horse is happy is when his nostrils are relaxed. Horses that are unhappy often have tense nostrils that appear very thin. If his nostrils are relaxed, it is a sign your horse is happy and content. Another sign of happiness is a relaxed tail.
Horses enjoy social stimulation. So, make them happy by regularly switching up their scenery on walks or the company that surrounds them. If you have a friend with a horse, why not arrange play dates. It might sound like an odd suggestion but your horse will enjoy socialising with another horse and having some company.
What I believe a soft feel is referring to is when the rider draws on the reins and the horse responds with out any resistance through the body down to the feet. At the same time the horse should respond likewise to the riders' legs, seat and body rhythm.
When horses actively blow air through their nose, they want to express that they are extremely comfortable and content. It is a sign of great affection when animals "blow" at each other, the same is true for humans.

Normal Behavior
Basic maintenance behaviors include eating, resting, eliminating, grooming, and drinking.
They will accept you as their leader and do what they are told, while not running over or cramping you. Sometimes they may even follow you around. Sometimes horses will blow air in your face through their nostrils to show you they love you, like they do with other horses.
Horses toss their heads for a variety of reasons. Some of the most common reasons are dental problems, physical ailments, biting bugs, improper bit or saddle fit, too much energy, or poor handling on part of the rider.
Ears. Ears are a great indicator of how your horse is feeling. For example, if both ears are back, the horse is angry and may be threatening another horse. It can also mean that the horse is concentrating, like when they are running or competing.
One obvious sign of lameness is a rhythmic bob of the head as a horse walks or trots. But isolating lameness to a particular leg is sore can be difficult. The bobbing motion is produced when a horse uses the mass of his head and neck to shift his weight away from his sore leg with each stride.
Typically, a horse bites someone as a sign of aggression. However, in some cases, a horse can bite you in a playful manner or even as a sign of affection. Although this can seem sweet at first, any type of biting should be immediately discouraged.
