Many animals exhibit exceptional maternal care, with orangutans, elephants, dolphins, oranges, and alligators often cited for their devotion, teaching, and long-term protection, but animals like meerkats, wolves, and polar bears also show incredibly strong maternal instincts, teaching skills and safeguarding their young.
Pelicans also traditionally represent motherhood, and while not accurate to their real behavior, they've been depicted feeding their chicks their own blood- including on the flag of Louisiana.
Orangutan
One of the ultimate single mothers, the female orang-utan spends nearly all of her time up in the treetops, where she builds a new nest for their young every single night. Making up to 30,000 homes in her lifetime, the female orang-utan is able to do all this while never putting her baby down!
Manatees and elephants are symbols of kindness. They both show a gentle nature despite their size and demonstrating care for their communities.

Though not a species you can see here at Adventure Aquarium, orca whales are one of the most involved parents in the animal kingdom.
