Poseidon, also known as "God of Sea" or "Earth-Shaker", was one of the Olympian's Gods in the Greek mythology. It was a common belief that Poseidon shows his rage by tsunamis and earthquakes.
During the Trojan War, Poseidon fights on behalf of the Greeks because he holds a grudge against Laomedon, the Trojan king. Because of Poseidon's dislike of the Trojans, he enters the war to help the Greeks.
Within Greek mythology, Poseidon is recognized as the god of the sea and one of the 12 major Olympian deities worshiped by ancient Greeks. He is often characterized as being violent and ill-tempered in his disputes with both gods and men, while riding a four-horse chariot and wielding a trident.
Profile. Poseidon, god of the sea, has some anger management issues. Sometimes he is super placid and calm, but other times he is about as angry and vengeful as it gets. We suppose this personality makes a lot of sense for the god of the ocean; sometimes its waters are calm, and other times they send waves crashing.
In The Odyssey, and Greek mythology in general, Poseidon was the God of the Sea. one of three sons of the Titans, Cronus and Rhea, He was the brother of Zeus, Father to the Gods, and Hades, God of the Underworld. According to myth, he was known for quick temper, mood swings, and tendency towards vengeance.
Poseidon came into conflict with a variety of figures in land disputes. Notable among these was a contest for sovereignty over Attica, which he lost to the goddess Athena. Despite losing, Poseidon was also worshipped there, particularly at Colonus (as hippios, “of horses”).
In all seriousness, Poseidon fears very little. He fears Zeus' authority enough to follow it, and he probably feared his father while he was alive. Apart from that, Poseidon isn't shown to fear much of anything.
In Greek mythology, the Gods often held grudges against men. The most famous of these is Hera tormenting Herakles throughout his life, but perhaps the second-best known is Poseidon's grudge against Odysseus. We learn of this grudge through Homer's two great works the Iliad and the Odyssey.
Not satisfied with lordship over the sea, Poseidon coveted earthly realms as well. In his dispute with Athena for dominion over Athens, the two gods had a contest as to which one could give the Athenians the best gift. Poseidon shoved his trident into the Acropolis and produced a flowing stream or a horse.
Gods play an important role in Homer's epic the Odyssey. Almost all the gods are sympathetic to the main hero, Odysseus, except for Poseidon. Poseidon hates Odysseus because he has blinded his son Polyphemus.
Poseidon was allotted domain over the seas, but he always remained immensely jealous of Zeus' position of King of the Gods.
Seemingly not content with the seas alone, Poseidon often interfered in the plans of Zeus, and once even attempted to overthrow his brother with the aid of Hera and Athena. It was as punishment for this treachery that Poseidon was made to build the magnificent walls of Troy.
Poseidon then made a desperate attempt to escape and survive, but is unable to reach the edge and is grabbed by Kratos, who then proceeds to crush his eyes and finally break his neck, killing the sea god once and for all.
Personality. By all accounts Poseidon was not specifically evil but rather just casually cruel. He frequently fought with his brother.
Poseidon's strengths: He is a creative god, designing all the creatures of the sea. He can control waves and ocean conditions. Poseidon's weaknesses: Warlike, though not so much as Ares; moody and unpredictable. Spouse: Amphitrite, a sea goddess.
From that time forward, Poseidon and Athena were rivals. This plays out in the story of the Odyssey where Poseidon tries to thwart Odysseus while Athena tries to help him on his journey.
After the destruction of Troy, he and his men left for home without paying proper respect to Poseidon. For this, Poseidon punished Odysseus with what turned out to be a ten year journey home to Ithaca.
Poseidon's Secret is an Atlantean myth technology in Age of Mythology: The Titans that is available to worshipers of Theia and can be researched at the Military Barracks. Once researched, it increases the attack and movement speed of cavalry units by +15% and +10%, respectively.
Poseidon enjoyed the pleasures of the flesh, seeking romance with goddesses, humans, nymphs and other creatures. Not even physical form mattered to him: He could, and often did, transform himself or his lovers into animals so as to hide in plain sight.

In turn, the only way for Athena to punish Poseidon is by punishing Medusa. Athena knew that Poseidon lusted after Medusa, this was made evident by his ravishing her. So to get back at him, Athena cursed Medusa so that Poseidon couldn't seduce him anymore.
Despite his best efforts, Kojiro finished him off with a cross slash across his abdomen. In his final moments, Poseidon angrily cursed at Kojiro as his torso fell to pieces and his lower body fell to the ground. He eventually disintegrated and was wiped from existence, marking the god's first loss.
