In the recent movie “Star Wars Episode One,” the character of Jar Jar Binks created much controversy and discussion. People either hated or loved him. One of the main reasons for this love/hate attitude is the peculiar Gungan dialect that Jar Jar speaks.
Actor Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks in the movie, theorized that Star Wars creator George Lucas created the Gungan language based on the way his son Jett, who was six years old at the time, processed language.

Gunganese, also known as Gungan or Old Gungan, was the native language of the Gungans, an amphibious species from Naboo. In practice, the Gungans often used a pidgin tongue that combined Galactic Basic Standard with Gunganese words and speech patterns.
Galactic Basic: the most widely spoken Star Wars language
Also known as Galactic Basic Standard, Galactic Standard, or just Basic, this language is the lingua franca* of the galaxy. To avoid confusion, let's put it straight: Galatic Basic is English.
