This is really confusing and has been updated several times. So here's the truth, Vader's father isn't Plagueis and not exactly the force… it's Palpatine.
Anakin was actually the result of immaculate conception, so he doesn't have a father. His mother, Shmi Skywalker, conceived her child without a male partner, and instead Anakin was created through the Force. Yes, that's right, Anakin Skywalker is basically Jesus Christ.
In Legends it's pretty much confirmed that Anakin was born of the Force as a reaction to Plagueis and Palpatine growing stronger in the dark side, however the reason for his conception is much less clear in Canon.
Palpatine is not Anakin's father in either Canon or Legends. In Legends, Plagueis and Palpatine tried to manipulate the force for their own desires but the Force didn't like that and so it retaliated and created Anakin, the Chosen One.
After the scales had been tipped, and were in favor to the Dark Side, thus beginning the final stage of Darth Bane's Grand Plan, the Force itself retaliated by creating Anakin Skywalker. Thus, Anakin Skywalker is a product of the force trying to create a countermeasure to the efforts of Plagueis and Sidious.
Snoke Is Not a Sith Lord
During the time of The Force Awakens, many fans theorized that the next film would reveal Snoke to be Darth Plagueis, the Sith master who taught Palpatine the ways of the dark side.
Plagueis' apprentice ultimately became the Emperor of the first Galactic Empire. One of the few Jedi to survive was a Padawan named Ferren Barr.
Well, a new Star Wars tie-in has finally answered that question. In The Rise of Skywalker's novelization, we learn that Rey's father was a failed clone of Emperor Palpatine. He was initially created to be a vessel to house Palpatine and his Sith power.
Rey. Rey (portrayed by Daisy Ridley) is the granddaughter of Sheev Palpatine/Darth Sidious through Dathan. Born on the planet Hyperkarn in 15 ABY, as a child in 21 ABY, Rey was abandoned by her parents on the planet Jakku to protect her from Sidious.
Palpatine succumbed to his wounds at Tapalo's blade. In 82 BBY, Cosinga Palpatine's wife gave birth to their eldest son, Palpatine, who later insisted on being known only by the cognomen in order to spite his father and the rest of the family. The couple also had at least two other sons and two daughters.
Anakin's father is The Emperor. Palpatine manipulated the Midi-chlorians inside of Shmi's womb to create Anakin.
In The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon Jinn meets tiny Anakin Skywalker and his mother, he goes on about how the Force is like, crazy strong with Anakin or whatever, and then asks his mother about Anakin's dad. Shmi Skywalker is pretty clear in her answer: There isn't a father. She was impregnated by the Force.
We discover Kylo Ren (birth name: Ben Solo) is actually the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, meaning Ben is Luke's nephew. Luke trains Ben in the ways of the Jedi, but Ben turns to the Dark Side like his grandfather (Anakin) before him. He adopts the name Kylo Ren, and kills his father, Han, in The Force Awakens.
If Palps is Anakin's father, that makes him Ben's great grandfather. He's Rey's grandfather, which makes her Luke and Leia's 1st cousins, which means she and Ben are 1st cousins once removed.
Although Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker concludes with Rey choosing the name of Skywalker and completing her path to becoming a Jedi, it's possible that she was actually the reincarnation of Anakin all along.

The weapon had a kyber crystal at its heart, and emitted a yellow-colored plasma blade when ignited. The emitter matrix on Rey's weapon featured a rotating gear-like mechanism, which caused the emitter of the lightsaber to open up and allow the plasma blade through.
Having refounded the Jedi Order and trained several new Jedi including Leia, Luke eventually marries an enemy-turned-ally Mara Jade, and they have a son named Ben, who was voted the 40th top Star Wars character by IGN and the 6th top Star Wars Expanded Universe character by UGO Networks.
Rey was born on Hyperkarn in 15 ABY during the rise of the New Republic. Her father, Dathan, was a bioengineered Strand-Cast cloned from the genetic template of Darth Sidious, the Sith Lord who ruled the Galactic Empire as Emperor Palpatine.
Rey, despite learning she's the granddaughter of Sheev Palpatine, chooses to call herself a Skywalker. It's her choice. She could have called herself anything. But rather than handcuff herself to her Palpatine bloodline, she decided to take the name of the heroes who came before her.
In non-canon material it is said that Palpatine had a number of concubines and never took a wife in fear that he would produce a legitimate heir. One of these non-canon concubines was Roganda Ismaren, a former Jedi who survived Order 66, and lived for a time at Palpatine's side.
