Right after surgery You may have swallowed blood during and after your surgery. This may cause you to vomit (throw up) old blood. If you feel sick to your stomach, ask the nurse for medication. You will have bad breath and a taste in your mouth caused by bleeding, post-nasal discharge and mouth breathing.
Two of the most common side effects following cosmetic surgery are nausea and vomiting. This is most often the result of a response to the anesthesia. It is more likely to occur with general anesthesia. It is also more common in women, children, and overweight or anxious patients, and following any facial procedure.
Immediately after surgery, some patients feel groggy or nauseous. These feelings normally subside by the next day. Post surgical swelling may temporarily cause the look of unevenness, skin changes, hard spots, and ridges. Could last two or more weeks.

Your initial recovery phase after this procedure will usually be about seven to 10 days, although your total recovery time could be as long as two to three months.
In most patients, it takes roughly 6 weeks for the bones in your nose to heal following surgery. During this time, you should avoid strenuous exercise. Even movements that seem harmless like stretching, lifting, or bending over can increase nasal swelling.
Eat small amounts of bland food frequently throughout the day. Stop eating before you feel full. Wait 30 minutes between eating solid food and drinking liquids. Unless directed otherwise by the medical staff, do not lie down flat after your meal for 2 hours.

Week 1: During the first week after rhinoplasty surgery, be sure to give yourself ample time for rest and recovery. For the first few days, there is significant swelling, you'll feel tender, and you'll be unable to breathe through the nose. The nasal dressings, splint, and sutures are typically removed after 7 days.
