Bench pressing 100kg (about 220 lbs) is considered a significant strength milestone, making it uncommon but achievable, especially for regular gym-goers, though it's rare in the general population; it typically signifies an intermediate level of strength for men and is a major achievement for women, making it an impressive feat that shows dedication.
Less than 1% of people can bench 100kg. It's not just a number- it's a milestone most never reach.
The say less than 1 percent of the population can bench press 100kg and for most of my life I've been part of the 99 percent who can't. - It wasn't through lack of trying either. There have been seasons of my life when I've been in the gym grinding but never cracked it.
While Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson doesn't lift for max weight publicly anymore, he claimed a personal best of 450 lbs (204 kg), with sources suggesting his raw strength could project to around 430 lbs, placing him among elite powerlifters for his weight class, though unverified official competition lifts at that weight are lacking.
“I'm not really that good at lifting weights,” he admits. “A lot of people can bench-press 250kg; I probably bench 140kg. I just go heavy enough to develop the muscles. What really matters is what you do out on the track.”
Stallone claims to have been able to bench press 385-400 lbs (174.6-181.4 kg) and squat 500 lbs (226.8 kg) in his prime. While in a bench pressing contest with former Mr. Olympia Franco Columbu, he severely tore his pectoral muscle and needed over 160 stitches on it.
Personal records
Some dysfunctional barbell training featuring the legend @johncena , who puts up some ridiculous numbers: Squat 611 lbs, Bench 481 lbs, Deadlift 602+ lbs, Snatch 304lbs and Clean 358lbs.
If you can bench press 100 kg, you're stronger than most 💪 A study set out in the US reveals that less than 0.5% of Americans can lift that weight, and globally this figure drops even lower to 0.1%.
Of those studies in gym surveys suggest that fewer than 10% of male lifters can actually bench 225 for a clean rep. For women, the number is one in about 10, 000 for them as well.
The 5/3/1 method, created by Jim Wendler, is a strength training program focusing on four core lifts (squat, bench press, deadlift, overhead press) using a specific rep scheme (5, 3, 1) over a 3-4 week cycle, building strength slowly with progressive overload by increasing training weight (typically 90% of 1RM) and pushing for rep PRs on the final set, followed by assistance exercises for overall muscle growth.
What kills muscle gains most are poor recovery (lack of sleep, overtraining, high stress/cortisol), insufficient or poor-quality nutrition (not enough protein/carbs, excessive processed foods/sugar/alcohol), and inefficient training (too much cardio, bad form, focusing on isolation over compound lifts). Chronic stress elevates cortisol, which breaks down muscle, while inadequate protein, calories, and sleep directly impede repair and growth, making recovery paramount.
Not surprising that he can deadlift 400lbs, but what is, is he's the second strongest on the team.
These included the hammer curl, barbell biceps curl, overhead triceps extension, and dumbbell shoulder press. Body weight plays a key role in how much weight an individual is able to lift. The average American adult man weighs about 200 lb. The average, untrained 198-lb man bench presses about 135 lb.
For weighted exercises, Pitt was completing 8, 15, and 25 reps per exercise. For instance, Pitt would utilize bench press and reps of 25, 15, and eight at 165, 195, and 225 lbs. Don't hate on Pitt too much for incorporating ample bench pressing into his routine.

He benched 120 pounds for his chest and did about 400 crunches and sit-ups to build his core.
In fact, Hugh can bench press 315 lbs and leg press 1,000 lbs, which is very impressive for a 6'3″ lifter weighing 195 pounds at under 10% bodyfat. Furthermore, Hugh does this while also employing cardio several times per week and staying incredibly lean year-round. And shall I repeat that he's 44 years old!
As to Sly, he's tried every workout under the sun (& his workouts are in my book Main Character Swole), but before he tore his pec benching with Franco Columbu, he was putting up 385-400lbs on the bench & squatting 500lbs.
Finally, Ferrigno's reported bench max, somewhere between 560 and 600 pounds, marks him out as an incredibly strong bodybuilder, especially for his era.
