Medicare provides a no-questions-asked rebate for circumcision, despite the fact most of these operations have no medical indication, and so are in defiance of Medicare's guidelines. These state that benefits are not payable for "medical services which are not clinically necessary", nor "surgery for cosmetic reasons".
Will Medicare or private health insurance cover the cost of circumcision? You can claim a Medicare rebate only if there's a medical reason for your child's circumcision. The rebate will cover a portion of the total cost. If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim the costs involved in circumcision.
In general, the cost of a circumcision is between $250 and $400. The cost is often divided into two bills: one for the procedure and one for the health care provider's time. Your insurance benefits will determine how much you will have to pay yourself.
There is a rebate of approximately $85.00, which can be collected from a Medicare office when you register your baby for Medicare. Please do not delay a circumcision because of financial reasons. Arrangements can be made with Dr Goldman for people who cannot pay the full amount immediately.
Cost of a Circumcision
The price for a circumcision procedure starts from $450 'out of pocket' with Medicare. Your Medicare rebate can be obtained via your myGov account. If your baby does not have a Medicare card, a circumcision starts at $668.
The fee for Circumcision for older children starts from $800 to $1000 depends on age. Fee for Full Circumcision Adults is $1300 (using local anaesthetics) with a Medicare rebate or approximately $125 (for child over age 10 and adults). Gentle Gas sedation is $150 and additional fees if intravenous sedation is required.

Conclusions: Pain is mild to moderate after circumcision in adults under general anesthesia with an intraoperative penile block. Severe pain is rare and mostly related to complications. Younger patients generally have more discomfort.
For the glans penis, circumcised men reported decreased sexual pleasure and lower orgasm intensity. They also stated more effort was required to achieve orgasm, and a higher percentage of them experienced unusual sensations (burning, prickling, itching, or tingling and numbness of the glans penis).

The foreskin should be able to retract readily at all points in life after infancy. It should be able to retract to allow for full erections.
Sometimes there's a medical need for circumcision, such as when the foreskin is too tight to be pulled back (retracted) over the glans. In other cases, particularly in parts of Africa, circumcision is recommended for older boys or men to reduce the risk of certain sexually transmitted infections.

If a gauze was used and doesn't fall off on its own, remove it after 48 hours. Begin retracting (pulling back) the foreskin between 4 to 10 days after the circumcision (see instructions in next section).
Circumcision can be done at any age. Traditionally, the most common time to do it is soon after your baby is born, or within the first month of life. Because the process is painful, a local anesthetic is used to numb the area and the surgery is performed while the baby is still awake.

Recovery from adult circumcision typically takes two to three weeks. You may need to request a week off from work. Some people will not be able to return to normal activities for longer.
