Malia is the twin sister of Mal, as well as a Daughter of one out of numerous villains, Maleficent. She has a strong bond with her sister. Mal would risk her life for her sister if her life depended on it. Same goes for Malia towards Mal.
Evangeline is Evie's twin sister. The two are like two peas in a pod. However, these two sisters live in two different places. When Evie and Evangeline were offered to go to Auradon, the Evil Queen refused to let Evangeline go.
Mal is more than surprised, as it was her mother that banished Evie and Evil Queen from Isle society because they had not invited Mal to Evie's sixth birthday party. Mal decides to get revenge on Evie for the slight 10 years ago.

The prelude novel reveals some details about her past: Evie was castle-schooled due to a curse Maleficent put on her and her mother for not inviting Mal to her sixth birthday party. She used to be enemies with Mal before they became best friends.
Like Cleo Sertori in the beginning, Evie did not enjoy being a mermaid until she went for a swim since her transformation. She is the first mermaid to lose her tail on-screen in the spin-off series, and the third one overall. Like Charlotte, losing her tail was involuntarily.
Back at the hideout, Evie finds a small bouquet of flowers. Having studied the language of flowers from her book collection, she deciphers the meaning as a message of hope, perfection, and love. Henry appears behind her, asking for her hand in marriage to which Evie accepts with a kiss.
She claims to have been sexually abused by an uncle and has scars on her back which she says he caused by holding her against a fire.
The day the kids are to be picked up, Ben, Mal's boyfriend and the king of Auradon, proposes to her, and she accepts. Ben's ex-girlfriend Audrey seethes with jealousy, and her grandmother Queen Leah admonishes her for failing to secure the family legacy by marrying Ben.
In the latest installment of the series, “Descendants 3,” fans were excited to learn that the beloved character of Mal is now 17 years old.
