A 1200 pound 3-lift total (bench press, squats and deadlifts) is more than 95% of gym rats will ever accomplish. A 1500 pound 3-lift total is a huge accomplishment, and will be hard to beat at most local, natural powerlifting meets.
I think to hit 2000 raw you are in the top 5% of all powerlifters. In single ply gear I think it is a huge milestone but can be accomplished by most lifters above 200lbs with long term dedicated training. A 200lb raw total is just superhuman. You are talking an insanse level of strength to hit that number raw.
General Strength Standards:
Squat: A squat of 405 lbs (180 kg) is considered highly respectable for men, while 600 lbs (272 kg) is legendary. Bench Press: A bench press of 315 lbs (140 kg) is a solid natural goal for men, with 500 lbs (227 kg) being legendary.
Here's exactly what he was benching, deadlifting and squatting back in his professional bodybuilder days. "My best bench press was 525, my best deadlift was 710, and my best squat was 610," he said.
Honestly you should expect 1000 lbs as good at your body weight. I hit 1045 @ 190 bodyweight (and not lean) after only one year. For me I am looking at 1150 as ``good''.
The second best total was approximately 200 pounds below this level. This reveals that a 1300-1500 pound total at most local, raw and natural powerlifting meets is fairly impressive. Those that achieve these levels usually move on to national-level competitions.
Not surprising that he can deadlift 400lbs, but what is, is he's the second strongest on the team.
On the Bench Press
For a more modern look at his power, fast-forward to an interview with WIRED from 2021, when Johnson estimated that his one-rep bench max fell somewhere between 400 and 500 pounds.
Hugh Jackman's personal best 435-pound deadlift was supposed to be his ultimate strength flex, but Ryan Reynolds just swooped in and flipped the script. Jackman's epic lift was legendary—until Reynolds decided to shake things up and challenge his top spot.
Stallone claims to have been able to bench press 385-400 lbs (174.6-181.4 kg) and squat 500 lbs (226.8 kg) in his prime. While in a bench pressing contest with former Mr. Olympia Franco Columbu, he severely tore his pectoral muscle and needed over 160 stitches on it.
Men are the strongest between 26 and 35 years of age.
But of course there are individual differences between athletes and some people peak before or after that age window.
The 80/20 rule, also known as the Pareto Principle, suggests that 80% of your workouts should be at a moderate intensity, while the remaining 20% should be high intensity. This approach allows for consistent training with reduced risk of overtraining, ensuring that you can maintain your fitness journey sustainably.
Even with routine gym goers, it's less than 10% can put up over 225. Next time at the gym, notice how many of the guys don't even attempt to bench. Not everyone at the gym benches and even the ones that do, don't bench over 225 half the time.
The 1250 Club is an impressive next step beyond the 1000 Pound Club, recognizing individuals who achieve a combined one-rep max total of 1250 pounds or more in the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
A lot of the people start a gym membership, because they want to completely redefine themselves. “New Year – New Me!”, they will post on social media. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. More than 90% of these people will quit after three months of going to the gym.
Peak Performance Age in Powerlifting
A 2019 study found men reach their peak performance in powerlifting in their mid-30s and women in their late-30s/early 40s. These findings are exciting and hopefully break down some barriers and perceptions for mature age athletes.
Well, from the Austrian Oak's own mouth, his best-ever back squat, bench press, and deadlift were:
Hugh Jackman was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer that typically appears on sun-exposed areas of the skin. It's usually slow-growing and rarely spreads but can cause serious damage if left untreated.
Some dysfunctional barbell training featuring the legend @johncena , who puts up some ridiculous numbers: Squat 611 lbs, Bench 481 lbs, Deadlift 602+ lbs, Snatch 304lbs and Clean 358lbs.
Tom Brady Max Bench Press?! In the video, after easily repping out 225 pounds, he bumps the weight up to 245 pounds.
With help of magic script, he is strong enough. Batman's strength is insane! Bench pressing 2500 to 3000 pounds? That's next-level even for a peak human.
The fact is, the majority of elite high jumpers have standing verticals in the 26-33″ range. Occasionally you will get a Charles Austin type jumper with a 38″ legit (no combine tricks) standing vertical, but this is not common.
For the 2025–26 season, Steph is pulling in a staggering $59.6 million from the Golden State Warriors, making him the highest-paid player in the league, a record that he has held since 2017-18. But LeBron James isn't exactly lagging, despite his Lakers salary for this season sitting at $52.6 million.
