Most filler syringes contain 1.0 ml (milliliters or cc) of product. This includes products such as Restylane and Juvéderm–which also includes Voluma, Vollure, Ultra, and Volbella. Some fillers do come in larger (e.g., Radiesse-1.5 ml) or smaller sizes but let's discuss the vastly more commonly used 1.0 ml syringes.
1ml is equivalent to around 1/5 of a teaspoon, whilst measuring one millilitre of dermal filler may seem overly stringent, in the world of aesthetics it is crucial.
How much filler is in a syringe? Most syringes contain 1ml of filler, or about 1/5 of a teaspoon. Occasionally you'll see “half syringes” advertised, at just 0.5ml, it's very hard to create a noticeable impact with that small amount of filler.
0.5ml is a great introductory filler amount for first-time lip filler clients, especially if you're nervous of what the result will be. Remember you will swell after treatment a little, so you will not see major change with 0.5ml after the treatment has settled over the first 2-4 weeks.
It's a common misconception that dermal filler is going to dramatically change your appearance with the very first treatment. In actual fact, 1ml of dermal filler is just enough to create a very subtle result that clients can then build upon over time (if that's your goal).
It is safe to have 2ml filled at one time. Please consult with your physician to determine if thats what you need.
How much do dermal fillers cost? Dermal fillers range from approximately $530 to $930 per syringe, depending on the thickness and longevity of the filler being used. A simple lip treatment usually requires just one syringe, while cheeks usually need at least two syringes of thicker filler.
1ml – $650 – $750 (depending on product). 2ml – $1250. 2.5ml – $1550. 3ml – $1800.
Depending on the injection site and amount of dermal filler, most HA fillers last from 6 – 12 months on average. Regardless of which dermal filler you use, two or three syringes are almost always recommended in order to achieve the most gorgeous outcomes.
So based on this fact, most patients will need 1 syringe of filler per decade of age to restore their once youthful and plump appearance. Again, those numbers would be 3 syringes for a 30 year old, 4 syringes for a 40 year old, 5 syringes for 50 year (you see where we are going with this) for a full facial correction.
1ml is a relatively small volume of filler, and it will typically produce results which last for six months.
Answer: Filler Amount
With filler you will be able to evaluate the result immediately and decide for yourself if you would like a greater amount of correction/ increase in volume. 4 mL is a reasonable amount filler for someone to need. Some areas, like the temples, can require up to 8 syringes of filler.
The average treatment will require just 0.5 to 1 ml of filler to achieve the desired effects, so you are unlikely to need more than one syringe of dermal filler. In some cases, a little more filler may be used to achieve a more dramatic look, but it would rarely require more than 2ml (or 2 syringes) of filler.
Fillers are a great option for patients seeking a softer, more youthful look. However, if used improperly or over used, fillers can have negative long term consequences. In fact, patients who do not properly use filler could actually speed up their skin's aging process, resulting in older looking skin.
Injections are given around the area of your face being treated, which is then massaged. It might feel uncomfortable but should not be painful. The treatment usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
However, this is good news if you're just want to try fillers once or twice, since the effects will fade away without any long-term risks. It's important to note that getting filler doesn't stop your skin from aging completely, so you could need more filler to get the same results over time.
Most patients need one syringe for both lips. In some patients, half a syringe will be sufficient to achieve the desired result.
Conversely, for those patients who want a subtle change, with hydrated/rejuvenated and slightly defined lips, 0.5ml overall is the right amount. But, if you want an instant plump of the lips and a fuller look, 1ml of lip filler is the best choice.
Deep injections may last as long as 12 months, and newer products on the market may last up to two years.
They indicate that dermal injections last for 6 months and that 1mL of dermal lip injections should be used for the lips. However, it is our philosophy that injecting 1ml of filler in patients' lip area every 6 months is excessive.
Please don't try to inject yourself with facial fillers - it is extremely dangerous! […] Without knowing the anatomy of face muscles, nerves and blood vessels you could cause irreversible facial paralysis, blindness and tissue necrosis.
Generally the Juvederm Ultra (1 syringe) lasts about 4-6 months and the Ultra Plus (a little thicker) about 6-9 months. However, we are all individuals and I have seen patients occasionally where it only lasts 3 and others where it might last a year – but these individuals are the exception, not the rule.
