On the day of Pentecost, about 3,000 people were converted to the Christian faith after hearing Peter's sermon, accepting his message, and being baptized, marking the birth of the Church as described in the book of Acts.
Acts 2:41 states "They then that received his word were baptized, and there were added unto them in that day about three thousand souls."
The power of God facilitated the changing of peoples' lives. That's why 3,000 people got saved on the day of Pentecost! Maybe it's really important that we be love-hungry and unity-hungry—not power-hungry. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
40He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.
At the first Pentecost over 3000 people were baptized, creating the first church. This is why Pentecost is known as the birthday of the Christian church. The word Pentecost comes from a Greek word meaning fiftieth.
Acts 2:41 says that 3000 people were baptized in response to the apostles teaching. There's only one place in all of Jerusalem that has that much water.
Jesus speaks of forgiveness beyond what anyone had ever considered before: seventy times seven! Many commentaries understand this to mean that Jesus was telling Peter that he should forgive his brother a limitless number of times.
490 is the numerical value of the biblical Hebrew word “tamim” which means to “complete,” “perfect,” or “finished.” A person who can't forgive will always live an imperfect, and incomplete life that lacks a true understanding of the “finished” gracious work of the cross.
Fourth, the 144,000 mentioned later in chapter 14 are those who have been “redeemed from the earth” and those who were “purchased from among men.” This is generic everybody kind of language. The 144,000 is a symbolic number of redeemed drawn from all peoples, not simply the Jews.
This sacred number brought to mind the twelve tribes of Israel which descended from the patriarch Jacob's twelve sons. These twelve tribes were the foundation stones upon which the nation of Israel had been built. Jesus drew upon this traditional symbolism.
The response to Peter's message on the day of Pentecost was unfathomable. 3,000 people responded to the gospel, received his word and were baptized.
NLT Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day — about 3,000 in all. KJV Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Today in Tali Pentecostal Church, more than one hundred and twenty (120) Christians were baptized to be born again.
Three thousand people were convicted, converted, saved, and added to the church on the first Pentecost after the ascension of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41,47).
Simon Peter points to prophetic Scriptures and references the astronomical signs that had taken place during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ to validate the belief that Jesus is the Messiah. Those who believed this interpretation accepted Jesus as Savior, and 3000 people were converted in a single day.
Many people received Peter's Holy Spirit inspired sermon, for about 3000 people are baptized and become followers of Jesus on the spot.
The number 1,000 signifies completeness or a great number. This number, then—144,000—is the great and complete multitude of God's people! This is a much more fitting way of reading Revelation and the message it conveys. Let's not constrain God only to saving 144,000 with him in heaven.
If you are a servant of the living God, you are one of the 144, 000. In Revelation, that phrase “servants of God” always refers to God's redeemed people. Very beginning of the book, the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon take place.
The term "144,000" is symbolic. '12' is the number of Tribes of Israel multiplied by '1000', a way of expressing completeness. Therefore we can see that John sees that the "144,000" simply signifies the 'entire body of the redeemed' of God.
The Book of Daniel has a prophecy that records that 490 years after Jerusalem is rebuilt, it will be destroyed and an anointed will be cut off. Christians interpret this as referring to Jesus, because he arrives in 33 CE, about 490 years after 445 BCE, when Jerusalem was rebuilt.
James reminds us that the Christian life is not to be lived alone. Healing comes through confession of our sins. We're instructed to confess and pray for one another (5:16).
He practiced what He preached. The Apostle Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive someone who had sinned against him, suggesting seven times. But Jesus responded not seven times, but “seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:22).
The holy things and the pearls represent the things of God, perhaps the gospel itself. The dogs and pigs represent hostile, unworthy people. And so the statement translates into something like this: Do not preach the things of God to hostile, unworthy people.
Matthew 22:37 means Jesus calls for a total, all-encompassing love for God, engaging every part of a person—their heart (emotions, will), soul (being, life), and mind (intellect, thoughts)—making God the supreme priority and the foundation for all actions, transforming one's entire life into a relationship of worship and obedience. This isn't just feeling; it's a deliberate choice to align one's whole self with God's will, leading to a deeper, more meaningful life.
