You generally worm sheep 1-2 times a year for adult ewes and more often for lambs, but routine, blanket worming is discouraged; instead, use Faecal Egg Counts (FECs) or FAMACHA testing to determine if and when to treat, especially in lambs and weaners, to combat drench resistance, with treatments often around weaning, pre-lambing, and in summer/autumn, guided by local conditions and expert advice.
Drenches with a combination of active ingredients may be required. 3. If you find that a single annual drench for “dry sheep” or two drenches a year for lambing ewes and weaners are not sufficient to beat worm disease, don't just increase the drenching.

The Don'ts of Colour Drenching
Selecting the wrong shade can make a room feel oppressive or uncomfortable. Overly bright or intense colours may overwhelm, while very dark hues can make a space feel smaller if not balanced with sufficient light.
Worms - The signs to look out for
A worm problem often (but not always) results in sheep scouring and becoming daggy. In severe cases, affected sheep may scour profusely. Other conditions can however produce these signs. Young sheep are far more susceptible to worms than older sheep.
Hold sheep off pasture for 24-48 hours, until any worm eggs present in the gut have passed out with the dung. Faecal egg count (FEC) sampling at least 10 sheep where possible, 14 days after treatment will show that the worming regime has worked.

Garlic – Use garlic as a worm-preventative and effective dewormer treatment. It aids in digestion and decreases worm counts. You can also mix garlic with molasses; try feeding it to them right out of your hand.

To minimize the risk of mild side effects (though they are rare), such as dull abdominal pain or nausea, it is advisable to take the medicine after breakfast. However, for optimal effectiveness in eliminating worms, it is recommended to take it either 2 hours after dinner or early in the morning on an empty stomach.

While there is some degree of shared resistance between the avermectins (ivermectin, abamectin, doramectin, eprinomectin) and Cydectin, many scientific studies show that Cydectin is more effective than the avermectins when resistance is present.

Tapeworm segments can be seen in the feces of sheep and goats. They have a white, grain-like appearance. Adult worms, often up to a meter or more in length, can be expelled and passed in the environment. Tapeworm eggs can be seen in sheep and goat feces, using the standard worm count procedure.
The main sign of lungworm infection in sheep or goats is coughing. Infected sheep or goats may also have reduced weight gains. At post mortem examination white, thread-like worms are clearly visible either in the airways or in shot-like nodules under the lung surface. Some nodules may contain pus rather than worms.
Deworm the flock on a regular basis. Be sure to record the date of treatment so a schedule can be followed. This is especially important when the dose and move system is not applicable due to limited pasture availability. Normally sheep should be treated every three to four weeks.
