Oil Treatment – Oil reportedly helps suffocate and kill the mites. Plus, it soothes sore ears. Put oil (mineral oil, olive oil, or coconut oil) into a dropper and squeeze 5 or 6 drops into your dog's ear. Massage the oil into your dog's ear and let sit for 5-10 minutes.
You can put olive oil in the ears every other night for six weeks, and the mites will drown. The adults are going to die right away on the first night you treat the ears with olive oil. As the new mites hatch over the next six weeks, they will also drown in the olive oil, and the problem will be eliminated.

How long does it take to get rid of ear mites in dogs? The life cycle of an ear mite usually lasts three weeks. Since the medication kills mature mites but leaves eggs intact, it may take a few weeks for your dog to be rid of the microscopic insects.
Common advice suggests that vaseline or similar products like coconut oil suffocate and kill the ear mites or other parasites in dog ears. Veterinarian Hannah Godfrey agrees that vaseline may kill some mites, but you're unlikely to get all the mites deeper in the ear, and it's dangerous to try.

Olive oil, mineral oil or coconut oil—oils are relatively safe to use, and olive oil can kill ear mites by smothering them though it takes many weeks to clear ear mites with this method. However, as before, if your pet has a serious ear infection, she needs proper medication to resolve the infection.
