To open a SIM card slot, you do not use a PIN. A PIN is used to unlock the SIM card's software functions once the phone is on, not to physically open the tray. The physical tray requires a small tool to release the locking mechanism [1].
If you forgot or don't know your SIM PIN
The wrong guess can permanently lock your SIM card or eSIM, and then you would need a new SIM card or eSIM. If your device asks for a PIN or code that you don't know, here's what to do: Contact the carrier that gave you the SIM card or eSIM.
To pop open the SIM tray, insert a paper clip or a SIM-eject tool into the hole beside the tray.
Earrings: Earrings, particularly those with slender and pointed designs, can be used to eject the SIM card tray by carefully inserting the pointed end into the pinhole. Safety Pin: A small safety pin can be used similarly to a paperclip.
If you don't have one, use a small paperclip. Insert the tool (or paperclip) into the small hole next to the SIM tray and push gently but firmly until the tray pops out. Slide the tray out from the device, and remove the SIM card by simply lifting it out of the tray.
Don't Apply Excessive Force
If the tray doesn't pop out easily, pushing harder isn't the answer. This may bend the tray, damage the SIM card inside, or even affect the ejector pin mechanism. Gentle pressure is all that's ever needed—if it's not enough, stop immediately.
SIM Lock Code Location Your PUK code is typically found on your SIM packaging or can be obtained from your carrier. Default SIM Unlock PIN Most SIM cards have a default PIN of 1234, which can be reset using a PUK if entered incorrectly multiple times.
While SIM-locked phones can be unlocked, it's not an immediate process. Phones are usually locked by design by the network provider to discourage their customers from switching to a new company or using cost-saving products like travel eSIMs or prepaid SIM cards.
Consider trying these common items:
Click Settings. Select Security. Select Set up SIM card lock. Toggle the SIM card lock feature On or Off.
A SIM PIN is a 4-digit code that you can set to protect your SIM and device from unauthorised use in case of being lost or stolen. By default, it is set to 1111 but we would recommend you set your own PIN as soon as you get your new SIM for your device.
