You may gently clean dried blood from the inside of the nose with a Q-tip and dilute hydrogen peroxide. Refrain from blowing your nose or sneezing if possible for 2 weeks. Use saline spray or a bulb syringe for comfort and to help clear drainage. Keep head elevated when resting, and sleep with at least 2 pillows.
First, you shouldn't wash your face as long as splints and tampons are in your nose. Instead, you can gently clean your face with a wet wipe or a wet cotton pad. On the seventh day after rhinoplasty, your bandages and splints will be removed, and you can wash your nose with lukewarm water.
To avoid undue pressure on your nose – which can damage the healing tissues, delay the recovery process, and compromise your final results – cleaning the nose should be performed gently using a saline rinse.
You should avoid exfoliating for at least a month. Chemical peeling, ablative laser and similar applications can cause infection and scarring on your face. You should wait for the top layer of your skin to renew.

There is always some nasal discharge after rhinoplasty or septoplasty for the first few days. This is nasal phlegm from the nose being stimulated by the surgery and by the stents inside the nose.
Gently touching the nose after the splint is removed is fine. However avoid any trauma or blows to the nose for 6 weeks (to avoid injuring the newly positioned bones and cartilage).
Incision lines should be cleaned 1 to 2 times per day with Hydrogen Peroxide and a Q-tip to remove any crusting that may build up. Vaseline (a thin layer) should always be a kept on the incision line to help the skin heal. Apply Vaseline at least 2-3 times per day or more to keep the incision line moist.

While it is important to treat your rhinoplasty with care during your recovery period, it is also possible to clean your nose following your surgery. In fact, maintaining good facial and nasal hygiene is key to a successful and complication-free recovery.
Use a normal saline solution (salt water) or mild soapy water. Soak the gauze or cloth in the saline solution or soapy water, and gently dab or wipe the skin with it. Try to remove all drainage and any dried blood or other matter that may have built up on the skin.
Swelling and Bruising.
Tissue injury, whether accidental or intentional (e.g. surgery), is followed by localized swelling. After surgery, swelling increases progressively, reaching its peak by the third day. It is generally worse when you first arise in the morning and decreases throughout the day.
How long should I wait after nasal surgery to kiss my partner? – I tell patients to wait 6 weeks before returning to contact sports, so if you consider kissing a contact sport, then 6 weeks. If not, then you can kiss your partner as soon as you are able to do so painlessly.
Sleeping on your side or stomach is not recommended for several weeks after the procedure because it places unnecessary pressure on your nose. Resting on your back in an elevated position cuts down on congestion and minimizes swelling after rhinoplasty surgery.
This is due to a variety of factors that can occur during the healing process. During a nose job, the surgeon makes incisions inside and outside of the nose and then adjusts the cartilage and bone structures in order to reshape it. These incisions increase the risk of infection, which can lead to an unpleasant odor.
The packing is gradually absorbed by your body within a few weeks. Due to swelling, dry blood, mucus, temporary packing, and crusting in your nose, you may have symptoms like an upper respiratory infection, and – yes - an unpleasant odor.
Your ability to smell and taste will return as soon as your nasal passages clear up or the swelling goes down. For many patients, their senses may fully return within three to six weeks. Complete healing can take six months to a year, and there should be no lasting or permanent effects on taste or smell.
You'll need to sleep in an elevated position for at least one week, however, it's generally recommended that you wait around 10-14 days before returning to your regular sleeping positions.
Nasal saline irrigation
Your physician may recommend mechanically cleaning the nose and sinuses with saline. This can remove blood and mucus from the nose and help with healing after surgery. Nasal saline spray (such as Ayr or Ocean spray) is available over-the-counter. You may also make saline solution at home.
After rhinoplasty surgery, your nose will be extra vulnerable as a result of the changes made to this structure. Your bones, cartilage, and surrounding tissues will be more fragile as they heal, sometimes for up to a year after surgery.
