A bucket or water pistol full of water, directed near but not at the cat, will help to chase an unwelcome cat out of the garden.
Mixing Up Essential Oil Cat Repellent
Squeeze 2 drops of lemon essential oil, 2 drops of wild orange essential oil, and 2 drops of lavender essential oil to the bottle. Cats are more sensitive to scents than humans, so essential oils with strong odors, such as citrus and lavender, can help repel them.
For a home remedy, you can use a vinegar solution. According to Yahoo news, the vinegar smell deters cats from peeing in that same spot again and as it evaporates takes the cat urine odor with it.
Because the vinegar is acidic, it will neutralize the bacteria in the cat pee, offsetting its odor. Let the solution sit for 3-5 minutes or carefully follow the instructions on the cleaning product's label.
Moth balls are designed to repel moths, not cats. However, some people believe that moth balls can also repel cats because of the strong scent. There is no scientific evidence to support the use of moth balls as a cat repellent, and in fact, moth balls can be toxic to cats.
