To get Outlook back to normal, either toggle off the "New Outlook" switch if you're in the updated version, or if you're in the classic view but it looks wrong, go to the View tab > Layout > Reading Pane > Show on the right, and potentially use outlook.exe /cleanviews in the Run box for a deeper reset.

To restore your Outlook Inbox view to its default configuration, follow these steps: Launch Outlook on your PC. Select the View tab at the top of the screen. Press the Reset View button to revert back to the default Outlook layout.
You can go back to classic Outlook for Windows by selecting the toggle in the new Outlook for Windows app. When you click on the toggle in the new Outlook for Windows, you will see two options. Switch back to classic Outlook – this will toggle you back to classic Outlook after requesting feedback.

From new Outlook, select the toggle to switch back to classic Outlook, new Outlook will close, and a feedback window appears. Respond to the feedback and click Submit. Each time you toggle back to classic Outlook from new Outlook, you're asked to provide feedback on your experience.
Turn on, turn off, or move the Reading Pane

One common reason for an unexpected change in Outlook's layout is an accidental modification to the view settings. Outlook offers three primary views: Compact, Single, and Preview. If the layout has shifted away from Compact, it can easily be restored.
If you can't find a contact in the Deleted folder, the next place to look is the Recoverable folder.

Performance and Speed. Speed is a big selling point for the new Outlook. Faster load times and seamless switching between accounts make it ideal for users on the go. The old Outlook can be slower, especially if you manage multiple accounts.
Original Outlook was designed to compete with Lotus Notes in the 90s and had a lot of functions packed into it. New Outlook is designed to compete with Gmail which offers less functionality but is platform independent. You are not going to get the same functionality in New Outlook.
Select or double-click the message so it opens in another window. Select File > Info. Select Resend or Recall and select one of the two options. Select Recall This Message... to delete or replace a sent message.
For keyboard users, you can use CTRL + F6 or WIN + ALT to invoke the ribbon. For touch users, simply scroll back up or tap the title bar to bring it back. Scrolling up and down quickly also triggers showing and hiding the ribbon.
