A man is lucky to be alive after doctors say he was bitten by one of the world's most venomous snakes and needed 44 doses of antivenom to survive.
“Most snakebites, even cobra bites, are not fatal.” Whitaker said. “But any snakebite must be treated as a medical emergency. “The single most important thing to do is to get to a hospital without any delay. Do not resort to any local or home remedy because there is only one cure for a snakebite and that is antivenom.”
A Ballarat man has survived a bite from the world's deadliest snake. Not many know of or have been bitten by Australia's native inland taipan, but Ricky Harvey is one of the lucky few to successfully fight off the venom that is potent enough to kill 100 humans with just one drop.
Another common plant remedy was the sap of the Native or Cherry Ballart (Exocarpas cupressiformis), used for snake bites.

Don't apply ice on the snake bite as the ice may block blood circulation. Don't suck the blood out with your mouth (germs in the mouth may cause infection in the bite wound) and you may be also exposing yourself to the venom. Don't attempt to cut the wound.

The Coastal Taipan is often regarded as the most dangerous snake in Australia. They are extremely nervous and alert snakes, and any movement near them is likely to trigger an attack.
Except for large pythons that may prey on small wallabies, kangaroos are not a natural food source for most snakes. With these large-snake-small-roo exceptions, snakes do not hunt kangaroos or wallabies - they prefer smaller prey.
