The Bible doesn't use the word "dinosaur," as it was coined much later, but some passages describe large, fearsome, reptilian creatures like Behemoth, Leviathan, and "dragons" (from the Hebrew tanniyn), which creationists interpret as dinosaurs coexisting with humans. Mainstream scholars usually view these as mythical beasts, poetic descriptions, or earthly animals like hippos or crocodiles, not actual dinosaurs.
Simply put, some Christians believe there never were dinosaurs. There are numerous and varied reasons offered about the existence of fossils. Some Christians believe that dinosaur fossils are a ploy by Satan to deceive us, or that they were created by God to test our faith.
This belief is based on the supposition that the Bible teaches in Genesis chapter 1 that the earth and the human race was created by God some 6000 years old and therefore the dinosaurs – a part of creation -- lived with Adam and Eve and their children.
Giant Reptilian Dragons of the Bible
You won't find Tyrannosaurus Rex or the term "dinosaur" anywhere in the Bible. Yet, Scripture does use the Hebrew word tanniyn to describe a mysterious creature resembling a giant reptile.
If the answer is that 1) the dinosaurs lived and died before Adam and Eve, then we are consistent with evolutionary theory at least in the sense that dinosaurs lived long before humans.
Birds have the closest DNA to dinosaurs, as they are direct descendants of theropod dinosaurs, making them living dinosaurs; chickens and ostriches, in particular, share strong genetic links with T. rex, confirmed through protein analysis and shared physical traits like scales and bone structure. While crocodilians (alligators, crocodiles) are also close relatives, birds are the most immediate living link to the dinosaur lineage.
The dinosaurs were destroyed likely in the flood. The Chicxulub Crater speaks for it, even tho it's not mentioned in the Bible.
The short answer is, “Yes.” This is one of those areas where Christians should be free to disagree. There are many conservative Bible scholars who believe in something like evolution.
After the dinosaurs died out, nearly 65 million years passed before people appeared on Earth. However, small mammals (including shrew-sized primates) were alive at the time of the dinosaurs.
Now, as we think through this question, are planets biblical, we don't specifically see planets mentioned in the Bible.
The Bible does not directly address the age of the Earth or the universe. The number of 6000 years came from Archbishop Ussher in the 17th century.
On the one hand, some reject evolutionary science, while affirming the Genesis account of human origins. On the other hand, others reject Adam and Eve as real people in a real past, while affirming the evolutionary account of human origins.
Under these circumstances and certainly in the Garden of Eden, the animals were likely quite harmless to their human neighbors. In summary, then, it seems possible that there could well have been dinosaurs in the Garden of Eden, although they were likely small and friendly.
Barbary lions are mentioned in the Bible, also some either North African or Syrian elephants, and a now extinct ox. Those are all animals that were alive in biblical times that are extinct now.
This description supports the theory mentioned above that a behemoth may have been a dinosaur (see notes on Job 40:19). 40:19 chief of the ways. The behemoth was the “chief” of all created land animals, which could only, therefore, have been one of the great land dinosaurs.
According to the Bible, the dinosaurs came before Adam and Eve. [25] And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the ground after its kind: and God saw that it was good.
Dinosaurs had been extinct or evolved for tens of millions of years before humans existed. So even if the Ark had existed (it didn't) there would not have been dinosaurs on it.
As dinosaurs roamed the Earth for over 160 million years, we needed their dominance to end. And this finally happened with the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event at the start of the Cenozoic Era. From there, early humans evolved from small, furry mammals.
Einstein, in a one-and-a-half-page hand-written German-language letter to philosopher Eric Gutkind, dated Princeton, New Jersey, 3 January 1954, a year and three and a half months before his death, wrote: "The word God is for me nothing but the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of ...
“We are each free to believe what we want and it's my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God.
Colossians 1:16 says: “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… all things have been created through him and for him.” Dinosaurs, like every creature, bear the fingerprints of the Creator. They existed because God made them — and they are a part of his grand design.
Although the number of dinosaur species was already declining, this suggests a sudden catastrophic event sealed their fate - something that caused unfavourable changes to the environment to occur more quickly than dinosaurs and other creatures could adapt.
In the Bible, Revelation 6:13 describes stars falling to the earth like figs falling from a shaken tree. This passage doesn't mention asteroids, but it does describe a celestial event that some interpret as a falling star phenomenon. Explanation In the Bible, "falling stars" may refer to meteors or comets.
