No strenuous activities: Patients are strongly advised to refrain from driving for at least 24 hours following a colon polyp removal surgery and avoid any strenuous activities for a minimum of four weeks following the surgery.
Mild abdominal pain/discomfort immediately after a colonoscopy is not rare, occurring anywhere between 2.5% to 11% of the cases [2]. Though it may have a host of etiologies, it is most commonly a result of air insufflation, endoscope looping, and/or manual pressure maneuvers used during a colonoscopy.
If any polyps are removed, they will be sent to a lab for analysis. The results can be cancerous, precancerous, or noncancerous.
Get enough rest: Rest for a few days after the procedure to allow your body to heal. Take pain medication: After the procedure, you may experience cramping, pain, or discomfort. Over-the-counter pain medication or prescription meds can help manage these symptoms.
If you had a biopsy or had polyps removed, your doctor may recommend a special diet for a day or so to allow your intestines time to heal. Your doctor will let you know what to expect and what you can and can't eat or drink. You might not have a bowel movement for a couple days after the procedure.

Colonoscopy recovery is usually quick with most people resuming normal activity the next day. Even so, it is important not to rush back to work. It is best to take the remainder of the day to rest, recover from sedation, and replenish fluids and nutrition. The results of your exam should be available within a few days.
In the first few days after a colonoscopy, you may feel slight discomfort and tiredness, so allow yourself to take it easy. Avoid strenuous activities like lifting heavy objects or exercising until you get clearance from your doctor.
You can start eating regular foods the next day. Keep eating light meals if you are not able to pass gas and still feel bloated. For the first 24 hours after your procedure: Do not drink alcohol.
So, the more polyps you have, the higher your cancer risk. Someone with just one or two small polyps is generally at lower risk of having or developing colon cancer than someone with three to nine, or more.
The actual surgery may take about 30 minutes or more, depending on the size and location of your polyps. I went back to work about 4 or 5 days after surgery. You'll probably go home the same day, though you'll need someone to drive you. You should be able to eat your regular diet the day of surgery or the next day.
After nasal polyp removal, you can usually return to work within one week and all regular activities after three weeks. However, it may take a month or two for you to feel completely normal again, and you'll need to attend regular doctor's visits for at least three to four months after surgery.
Is a sedation-free colonoscopy painful or uncomfortable? Most patients report little or no discomfort during the procedure. You can request sedation during the procedure if you change your mind and feel you need it, although it has been my experience that this seldom occurs.
What if I've taken all my preparation and am still passing solid stool on the day of my exam? In this case, your procedure will need to be rescheduled. You may be prescribed a different preparation for your next procedure. Please call the triage nurse to reschedule your procedure with a different preparation.
Complications — Polypectomy is safe although it has a few potential risks and complications. The most common complications are bleeding and perforation (creating a hole in the colon). Fortunately, this occurs infrequently (one in 1000 patients having colonoscopy).
POLYPECTOMY SCAR
Sometimes when the colon heals a small scar will be left marked by a whitish scar.
Most colorectal polyps can be removed safely by various polypectomy techniques; however, serious complications can occur. Postpolypectomy bleeding is the most common complication of colonoscopic polypectomy, accounting for 0.3% to 6.1% of polypectomy.
How long does it take to recover from a polypectomy? Recovery is quick, usually a matter of days. You may be taking prescription or over-the-counter pain medications for a day or two. You may have some light bleeding in your poop or pee, depending on where your polyp was removed.
