In Angel season 1 episode “I Will Remember You”, Angel becomes human after a battle with a demon, and he gets to spend a perfect day with Buffy.
Life With a Soul
He was sought out in the 1990s by the demon Whistler, who persuaded him to fight against the evil that he had once embodied in an effort to redeem himself. He pointed Angel towards the newly-activated Slayer, Buffy Summers. Angel resolved to help her in any way possible.
When Angel's curse was broken in 1998, Willow Rosenberg performed the spell a second time to restore his soul. She repeated this spell in 2003 after Angelus had been deliberately set free again by his friends.
In the library later, Buffy reveals to Willow and Giles that Angel's soul was restored just before she had to kill him. Faith stays in Sunnydale.
After Angel's re-ensoulment, Faith left with Willow to return to Sunnydale to help Buffy and her allies battle the First Evil. Like Angel, Faith switches from a more "passive" redemption to an "active" redemption.
Angel remained feral, but came to Buffy's rescue when one of her classmates turned into a monster and attacked her. Angel killed him and finally recognized Buffy afterward, and regained his sanity.
He was forced by his restored conscience to reconcile with his sinful past; however, the curse came with an additional danger: Angel could never experience true happiness, as it would result in the removal of his soul. Angel lost his soul twice: first, when he slept with Buffy Summers, and again, due to a spell.
1. Spike. We know that Team Angel fans are probably screaming at their computers right now, but hear us out. There are plenty of reasons Spike was the most powerful vampire in the Buffyverse.

Later, in Angel's perfect-day dream sequence, Angel and Cordelia consummated their relationship, but Angel called out "Buffy!" as he lost his soul, just as he did in Sunnydale years earlier.
Canon is that Angel loves Buffy, but due to the curse on him, they cannot be together because if truly happy, he goes back to being Angelus.
Angel (Warren Worthington III) is a mutant superhero in the Marvel Universe and a founding member of The X-Men and X-Factor. For a time, he also took on the identity of Archangel after being manipulated by the villain Apocalypse.
In a seemingly impossible event, vampires Angel and Darla had a child, the end result being Connor, a human with superhuman abilities. Connor is introduced in the episode "Lullaby," when Darla sacrifices herself to give birth to him, by staking herself in the heart.
Angel finally lets go, cured of the poison but Buffy slips into unconsciousness, suffering major blood loss.
Apocalypse turned Angel into Death, one of his Four Horsemen. He lost his "Death" status to once again become Archangel after Rogue touched him and sapped the evil that lay within him.
"I Will Remember You" is episode 8 of season 1 in the television show Angel, originally broadcast on the WB network. In this episode, Buffy follows Angel back to Los Angeles, where she confronts him about his surreptitious assistance back in Sunnydale.
Spike refers to Angelus as being his sire in "School Hard," but in "Fool for Love," it is made clear that Drusilla is the one who turned William (Spike) into a vampire.
However, Angel becomes more and more aware of their limitations as a couple and breaks up with her in the hopes that she will be happier without him, leaving Sunnydale altogether after attending Buffy's prom and helping her in the battle against Mayor Wilkins (Harry Groener).
The two kiss, and Angel initially hesitates, only for Cordelia to tell him not to worry. Angel succumbs and the two are soon making love, and Angel starts to feel perfect bliss causing him to gasp out, "Buffy," as he begins to lose his soul.
Buffy finally told Spike that she loved him — the first time she used the words "I love you" romantically to anyone since Angel —, but Spike replied: "No you don't, but thanks for saying it," and told her to leave him behind.
In the episode "I Will Remember You," Angel becomes human, much to his and Buffy's emotional and physical satisfaction.
The story of Buffy and Angel is that they're two destined but tragic lovers. They will never stop caring for each other, but affection does not necessarily mean that they work well together. Angel isn't just Buffy's first love, he's treated as her soulmate.
Buffy visits Angel and forces him to drink her blood, allowing Angel to recover. He takes Buffy, now near death herself, to a hospital. Nearby, the Mayor is informed that Faith is alive but in a coma from which she may never recover.
After three seasons on Buffy, Cordelia left the series to move over to star in Angel, a spin-off series focusing on Buffy's vampire ex-lover Angel (David Boreanaz). The first season of Angel sees Cordelia move to Los Angeles, in the hopes of escaping her new-found poverty by becoming an actress.
