Take a single dose, after food. As threadworm is highly contagious, it is important to treat ALL the family, including mum and dad. All human worming products will treat only adult worms present in the intestine at the time of taking the medication.
Adults and children of 2 years and over : 1 chocolate square (100mg) twice each day for 3 consecutive days. Combantrin-1 with Mebendazole chocolate squares may be taken with or without food.

So it's advisable to follow-up on symptoms roughly 2-4 weeks after the initial dose, and administer a second dose if you detect any lingering signs of a worm infection.
If you take too much (overdose)
If you take too much Combantrin-1 with Mebendazole, you may get stomach pains, diarrhoea, feel sick or vomit.

For most people, treatment will involve taking a single dose of a medication called mebendazole to kill the worms. If necessary, another dose can be taken after 2 weeks. During treatment and for a few weeks afterwards, it's also important to follow strict hygiene measures to avoid spreading the threadworm eggs.
Mebendazole is the usual treatment for people aged over 2 years. All household members, including adults and those without symptoms, should take a dose at the same time. This is because it is common to have worms in the gut with little or no symptoms. Just one dose kills the worms.
Depending on the frequency of bathroom visits this can take up to one week. Symptoms of threadworm infection usually disappear within one week of treatment. Threadworms are highly contagious. Hygiene measures should be followed for 6 weeks.
Around 4 weeks after ingestion, the adult female moves down the gut and exits the body via the anus to lay a batch of eggs on the surrounding skin, often at night. The worm then dies, her reproductive mission complete.
Dog owners are generally recommended to treat their dogs for worms once every 3 months for adult dogs. New puppies require worming once every 2-3 weeks until they're 12 weeks old, and then they should be wormed monthly until they reach 6 months old, at which age they can move onto the adult schedule.
Consult a health care provider before treating a suspected case of pinworm. Treatment involves a two-dose course. The second dose should be given 2 weeks after the first.
Take the correct dewormer
When infected with worms, it should be dewormed periodically, for adults and children over 2 years old should be dewormed 2 to 3 times a year, ie every 4 to 6 months.
The worms die after about six weeks. Provided that you do not swallow any new eggs, no new worms will grow to replace them. So, if you continue the hygiene measures described above for six weeks, this should break the cycle of re-infection, and clear your gut of threadworms.
After giving your puppy deworming medication, the adult worms will release their grip on the intestines as they die and are eliminated through your dog's poop. You may see dead or dying adult worms in the poop or around your puppy's anus.
What if I see live worms after worming? After worming your pet, your dog may pass out dead worms and this is completely normal and nothing to worry about. Sometimes, they may show some slight movement, such as a flicking motion, but the worms will go on to die.
For other types of common worm infections (such as roundworm, hookworm), take mebendazole by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually twice a day (in the morning and in the evening) for 3 days. If necessary, a second treatment may be given in a few weeks. For other types of infections, follow your doctor's directions.
After taking the pinworm medicine, itching should stop in 5 to 7 days.
It's best to give a small portion first with the tablet in while your pet is hungry, to make sure that they eat the whole dose. You can then follow this up with their main meal. Try a treat. If your pet's tablets can be taken with food, you could also try hiding it in your pet's favourite treat.
Medicine kills the threadworms, but it does not kill the eggs. Eggs can live for up to 2 weeks outside the body.
However, deworming treatment can have some mild side effects such as - dizziness, nausea, headache, and vomiting.
