Snape has saved Harry numerous times over the course of the series. Snape, during the Gryffindor- Slytherin Quidditch match, tries to save Harry from the cursed broom, muttering a counter course.
While through most of the series Snape seems to be horrible to Harry and possibly trying to get him into Voldemort's hands, it's revealed at the end of the series that Snape was actually helping watch out for Harry.
In the final book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” Rowling reveals that Snape was acting on Dumbledore's orders and had protected Harry at school out of love for Harry's mother, Lily. “Snape died for Harry out of love for Lily,” Rowling said.
But, despite his maltreatment of Harry and the complicated killing of headmaster Dumbledore (who knew he was a double agent?), Snape did sacrifice his life for Harry at the Battle of Hogwarts.
When Snape used his Patronus to lead Harry to the Sword of Gryffindor. But of course, it was not just Harry whose Patronus saved the day.
Voldemort intentionally made six Horcruxes, but when he used Avada Kedavra on Harry, he unintentionally created a seventh Horcrux. Instead of dying, Lily's love for Harry created a counter 'curse' known as Sacrificial Protection and saved Harry.
Similarly to Harry, Snape's patronus represents a person. In the memories he gives Harry before his death, Snape shows Dumbledore his patronus, using the form to prove his love of Lily Potter, Harry's mother. This indicates that Lily also had a doe patronus.
Snape tells Harry that he, Snape, is the Half-Blood Prince, and that Harry should not use his own spells on him, as Harry's father did. Harry dares Snape to kill him and calls him a coward once more.

Snape told him to. It was necessary for Harry to take his tears so that he would know what he needed to do to defeat voldemort. Especially since the only other person that could tell him was Dumbledore and he was dead.
He would always resent Harry for being James' son instead of his. Snape even said that he didn't want anyone to find out that he was protecting Lily's child, “especially Potter's son” (pg. 679 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) because of his hatred for James.
Now, as firmly established, Snape was not the greatest fan of Harry, but that didn't mean that he ever stopped loving Lily. Dumbledore was surprised that Snape seemed to care for the boy. With a swish of his wand, Snape conjured up a Patronus – Lily's Patronus, a doe. 'Always,' he said.
Lily Only Ever Saw Him as a Friend
As much as people romanticize Snape's infatuation with Lily, the fact that she did not love him back—at least in a romantic fashion—seems to go ignored by many fans of the series.
When questioned by Bellatrix about his loyalties, Snape says he has been working for Voldemort ever since Voldemort's return, and explains his actions in the previous books in that light. He points out that gaining Dumbledore's trust and protection has kept him out of Azkaban and free to operate on Voldemort's behalf.
Dumbledore reveals how thoroughly he loves Harry. Harry is brave, and Dumbledore is proud as any father would be. More than that, Dumbledore succumbs to a parent's weakness; he cares more about Harry's happiness and wellbeing than the wizarding world he is trying to protect.
A doe. And in his final battle with Lord Voldemort, Harry explained the significance of this to his adversary, and to us: 'Snape's Patronus was a doe,' said Harry, 'the same as my mother's, because he loved her for nearly all of his life, from the time when they were children'.
For the Potter uninitiated, “always” is how Snape explains to Dumbledore in the final book why his Patronus takes the same shape as the one belonging to his long-lost love: Harry Potter's mother, Lily.

In the [Deathly Hallows] book, Snape's dying words to Harry were "Look at me". Right then we did not realize the significance of his words but in the very next chapter when Harry goes through Snape's memories in the Pensieve, he comes to know how much Snape loved Lily.

The reason that Lilly's death was a true sacrifice (as in she died though she needn't have) is the fact that Voldemort genuinely would have let her live if she had stepped aside and let him kill Harry. Snape convinced Voldemort to spare Lilly.
