In Frozen, Elsa accidentally freezes Anna's heart, but did she realise it? When the ice burst out of her, she wasn't facing Anna. When she turned around, Anna was on the floor. But it didn't seem like she knew that she froze her heart.
Midpoint: With the help of Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, Anna arrives at Elsa's ice palace. She attempts to persuade Elsa to come back to Arendelle and thaw the eternal winter. However, unaware of the winter until this moment, Elsa panics and accidentally strikes Anna in the heart with her magic.
Grand Pabbie, who awakens from his nap and senses the magic inside Anna, sadly informs her and Kristoff that Anna's heart has been accidentally frozen by her sister and although magical, he is unable to remove the ice. He adds that only an act of true love can save her from freezing completely.
As a child, she uses her abilities to create a winter wonderland to play in with her younger sister and best friend, Princess Anna. One night, Elsa accidentally harms Anna with her powers. The king and queen of Arendelle hurriedly take Anna to a tribe of mountain trolls to be healed.
Hans then moved in to kill Elsa as she mourned, but Anna managed to intercept the blow, freezing to solid ice simultaneously. Though Anna appeared lifeless, her act of shielding Elsa was an act of true love, which caused her icy form to thaw out.
The ice from which the palace is constructed is capable of taking on different colors, such as purple, blue, red and yellow, based on Elsa's emotional state (blue when she is happy or neutral, yellow or amber when she is angry, and red when she is frightened).
The character of Anna does not have Clinical Depression or Anxiety. In her case, she is faced with debilitating grief that threatens to paralyze her. But being overcome with immobilizing levels of fear, hopelessness, and overwhelmedness has many origins. Depression and anxiety can be crippling.
Alone with Hans, Anna explained that she had been struck by Elsa's magic, elaborating that the magic had froze her heart and could only be remedied by an act of true love.
Healing Anna
Pabbie was able to heal Anna's injury.
Anna doesn't find out about Elsa's powers again, until much later at her coronation, three years after their parents died in a shipwreck. But a deleted scene, in Frozen 2, reveals that right before her parents left on that journey, they had plans to reveal the truth.
The first thing that happens is that the streak becomes bigger, and eventually, Anna's hair turns completely white. However, while Anna temporarily freezes to death, her white streak has disappeared by the time she thaws.
Hopefully, the film leans into the new dynamic between Elsa and her sister because it's a significant shift in the story. It's definitely safe to assume that Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff will all be reprising their roles as Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff in the third film.
"Frozen" producer Peter Del Vecho revealed to Entertainment Weekly that in the original version of the film, Elsa freezes her own heart after being stood up at the alter and was a self-proclaimed snow queen. And she was pure evil. Neither Elsa nor Anna were royalty — or even related.
Frozen is loosely based on a story called The Snow Queen. Both stories feature a snow queen, trolls, reindeer, frozen hearts, and snow creatures. However, the source material is an altogether darker story with a demon, a rather unfortunate magic mirror, and robbers.
All she needed is love, some understanding and people accepting her for who she is. This is all mental health sufferers could ever ask for. What sets Elsa apart from the mass array of Disney princesses is her inner battle with mental illness, anxiety and depression.
There seems to be a lot of speculation in the scene when Kristoff offers to take Anna to the trolls of whether or not he knows that Anna was the same girl he saw years before. Jennifer Lee has confirmed that Kristoff does indeed know, although she hasn't made specifics about how MUCH he knows.
This isn't explicitly stated within the film, This being said, Anna's heart was unfrozen when she chose to sacrifice her life to save Elsa from being murdered by Hans. A couple of things to note here: This is an action Anna performs.
After both the Enchanted Forest and Arendelle were saved, Kristoff finally had the opportunity he needed to propose properly to Anna, who, overwhelmed with joy, was all too happy to accept.

Frozen 3 may finally reveal Anna's powers, but it may be that Arendelle's new queen always had magic within her - and that it's connected to Elsa. Since her first appearance in Frozen, fans have wondered if Anna would ever get powers - and Frozen 3 may reveal that she has had them all along.
Delusions of grandeur. Psychologists worldwide have examined Anna's mental disorder and say she has 'delusions of grandeur' which is when you think you have more wealth or power or other qualities than you do.
Elsa has a mild PTSD flashback, and runs away – thankfully, only to her room, this time. Recovering from PTSD is a process, and it takes time – sometimes a LOT of time – to heal. But Anna is still there for her, and Elsa knows it.
According to Jennifer Lee, Anna is 18 years old in the film, while both Elsa and Kristoff are 21 years old and Hans is 23 years old.
