The simple answer to this question would be no, cats and dogs cannot mate with each other or produce any offspring.
The difference in the chromosomes means cat and dog DNA is far too different to combine and make a hybrid. So even if species should mate, the two strands of DNA in the egg and sperm could not match and fertilize the egg. The closest species to modern humans are mostly extinct.
However, interspecies breeding does occur in some other animals. Surprisingly, there are more than 40 examples of crosses involving different species of wild cats, such as lions and tigers, or domestic cats and wild cats.
Dogs, which have 78 chromosomes, have been known to mate with other members of the Canis genus, such as wolves (their original ancestor species), dingoes (probably a feral version of our domestic dogs!), jackals (78 or 80 chromosomes) and coyotes (78 chromosomes).

Savannah. The Savannah cat is not only a cat that looks like a tiger, they can also behave like one. Because these cats are the result of a cross between domestic cats and African servals, it's not even clear yet if they can fully qualify as domesticated pets.

If your dog humps your cat, it may be a sign of excitement or part of play, if the two pets do usually play with each other. Some small dogs may mount a cat if there is social conflict between them.
If your dog has a strong prey drive (the inclination to seek out, chase and potentially capture animals seen as prey — usually smaller animals such as cats or rabbits), she might become very focused on the cat. She'll stiffen, stare, and may start barking or whining. If you see these signs, do not let her near the cat.
Their genomes are simply too different to come together and make something that will live. Their genomes cannot mix in any productive way.
Impregnation: Impregnation is actually the fertilization process in which sperm and ovum fuse to produce a zygote. Naturally, a human cannot impregnate a pig as there are many reproduction barriers between them.
In fact, such human-animal hybrids are often referred to as “chimeras”.
A tigard is the hybrid offspring of a male tiger and a leopardess. The only known attempts to mate the two have produced stillborns. In 1900, Carl Hagenbeck crossed a female leopard with a Bengal tiger. The stillborn offspring had a mixture of spots, rosettes and stripes.
A leopon /ˈlɛpən/ (portmanteau of leopard and lion) is the hybrid offspring of a male leopard and a female lion. The head of the animal is similar to that of a lion while the rest of the body carries similarities to leopards. These hybrids are produced in captivity and are unlikely to occur in the wild.
Cats are unique among mammals in that over forty genetic crosses between different wild cat species, and between wild cats and domestic cats, have been documented to produce viable hybrid offspring (Figure 1). Popular examples include the liger (male lion x female tiger) and tigon (male tiger x female liger).
We'll start with the most famous lion-dog of all: the Chow Chow. An ancient breed from China, it's easy to see why this fluffy fellow tops the list of dogs that look like lions. Chows thick fur and small, rounded ears give them a distinctly leonine appearance.
Dogs do not usually try and take on lions, and solo, a dog may not be able to kill a full-grown lion. A pack of dogs is another story. However, there is a breed that is often called a 'lion killer'. The breed is the Rhodesian Ridgeback.
