Queen's Birthday 1639, 1640 and onwards

Queen's Birthday Australia : Second Monday in June

Except for Western Australia, all states and territories in the country observe the Queen's Birthday on the second Monday in June. As this date was to close to Western Australia Day (formerly referred to as Foundation Day) celebrated on the first Monday in June, the Queen's Birthday public holiday in Western Australia was moved to September/October.

The Queen's Birthday public holiday is the chosen date to celebrate the birthday of the monarch of the Commonwealth countries, currently Queen Elizabeth II. The date does not coincide with the actual birthday of the Queen (being April 21).

On the Queen's Birthday traditionally the Queen's Birthday honours list is published. The list contains the names of the new members of the Order of Australia and other Australian honours. The different grades of honour are awarded to Australian citizens and other individuals to recognise their achievements in Australian society or for meritorious service.
